Written Task: What kind of lifestyle should a hockey player live in the offseason? How can you best strike a balance between recreation and relaxation, and training for the next season? Should you simply spent the first half in the Caribbean and the second half in the gym, or is there some other training regimen you follow? Feel free to tell me what your player happens to do, or to showcase your own expertise in real-world athletic training! Furious Chicken read some of the questions he got asked by a magazine looking to tell more off the off-season behavior of the different hockey players in the SHL and SJHML. Some lovely examples were made but obviously Furious Chicken has a different off-season training routine. After being traded last season Chicken quickly noticed the big difference between the 3rd line minutes at the Edmonton Blizzards, and the 2nd line minutes at the Buffalo Stampede. Deciding he should spend quite a bit of time this off-season to make sure he was fit for next season where he would hopefully be making 2nd line minutes once again. But of course another important part of the off-season is the relaxation part. Chicken started the off-season with a call-up to the IIHF, following that up with a nice vacation, and that was followed up by training for the upcoming season. Gotta make sure to stay fit enough for the 2nd season in SHL, and first full season for the Buffalo Stampede. 168 words ![]() |
