For any team looking to bolster their defense Kristians Mikelis could be their guy. This left defenseman from Latvia is looking to make an impact at the junior level in order to get drafted into the SHL. Kristians is going to be primarily modeled after NHL defenseman Rasmus Dahlin. This means building a solid skillset of defense and skating while excelling on the offensive side of the ice. For now, I'm sure many SMJHL teams could use a solid defenseman to fill out their third line. Down the line, I believe this could easily make Kristians a first pairing defenseman, who would pair well with either an offensive defenseman or defensive defenseman. Even another two-way defenseman could pair well with Kristians! Lastly, but definitely not least Kristians looks to bring an elite locker presence to a lucky team. They understand that working to improve their skillset is very important, but they also understand that making friends along the way is crucial for building chemistry and fostering team success. To wrap things up, Kristians skillset brings a lot to the table and to say that he could be a teams "key to success" definitely isn't an overstatement.
