I wonder if Orr even considered himself as an “offensive” defenseman. He seemed like a no nonse player who just played the game hard and happened to be heavily gifted at the offensive side of the game as well. Mikko, a player that grew up as an offensive defender during his time in Newfoundland, made the switch during his rookie season to develop as a winger for the team. Mikko would ask Orr what specifically separated Bobby from his peers during those years. Was Orr simply someone with an exceptional skill set that no one else had at the time? Was he simply working harder than those he was playing again? Or is there some secret sauce that none of us know about. I’m sure Orr would answer at first with something along the lines of “I was just blessed to play with other good players which helped raise my game to a level that no one really could have predicted at the time”. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
