Cardio is lame. No one should do cardio. The proper ratio of cardio to hard workouts? 0:100. Cause get this, hockey isn't an endurance game, it's power lifting game. You're never actually doing 30 minutes of treadmill/stairmaster equivalent movement, you're really just doing wind sprints. Your shift is a set, get 3 reps in of full steam ripping it, and then you take a rest before your next set in 2-3 minutes. That just sounds a lot like hitting leg press, so you guessed it, the best cardio is leg press. Wind sprints would be valid based on the parameters given, cause like, its short sets, rest driven, and is actual cardio, but it's still lame. Why? it doesn't include weights. So the best form of cardio is actually wind sprints with a weighted vest, cause then you're still moving hella weight while technically repping out cardio. Just how it is in the business. |
