Walking into the Whalers locker room as a waiver wire acquisition was a very different experience when compared to how Oliver Cornwall expected it to be as a drafted prospect. However, he was welcomed immediately and integrated into the already forming team dynamic.

As a relatively fresh face with experience way back in the day, he had some idea of how things functioned in the locker room and in the league, and from there Oliver’s focus has been on getting to know his teammates and the senior figures who will be helping him develop into a legit SMJHL talent.

This locker room is one where everyone has a good time and everyone is welcomed. The GM leads the charge on that front, beginning introductions by inviting Cornwall into the room and immediately diving into banter with Oliver and the established roster. This was a bit of a shock for the mild-mannered Cornwall, but as he broke his practice stick against the net and gave his best whale cry, he knew this was the start of something special.
