I Think the refs in our league, and any league to be honest, do a decent job, or at least a good enough job, after all they are only human. But I’ve got some radical ideas. Let’s get rid of the refs on the ice all together, after all, most of the time they just get in the way or miss calls. So I’m proposing that we go the route of the future, let’s place cameras all around the rink that have analytics and/or AI that can help us make the right call every time. Now I know this could have some issues, but we would need to have a team watch the camera to verify calls are correct, but I believe this would reduce miss call and wrong calls 99%. I also believe this could help to speed games up because we wouldn’t need to wait on the refs to verify calls. But we would need to find out how the puck drops would work. That’s a problem for another day.
