"Wrong file" issues like this have always gotten a re-sim for as long as I remember. It's usually only cases like a single player's update or missed goalie swap that don't get re-simmed, since the impact they have is negligible and take longer to re-sim, since the simmer would have to force results. This feels like the right call.
