Hello SHL!

It is once again time for a charity drive! This season’s drive is in cooperation and friendly competition with some of our friends in other sim leagues! Here is the information (kindly provided to us by our friends organizing this cross-league initiative), along with our own plan for participation!


The sim league community has an obligation to its members to provide a safe space for all members and be welcoming. As a result, we are excited to be partnering with the Trevor Project and Outright International for our Cross-League Charity Drive.

The Trevor Project is the top suicide prevention helpline for members of the LBGTQ+ community in crisis. In many cases, resources aren't always available for young people who need someone to talk to before they make a decision that cannot be undone. LGBTQ+ young people are more than four times as likely to attempt suicide than their peers. The Trevor Project is a 100% scored charity by Charity Navigator and everyone from the CEO down is required to learn the helpline so everyone is able to help there.

Outright International is an international organization aimed at protecting human rights among those internationally who have their human rights violated. As an international advocacy group Outright International provides resources to other groups and works with government agencies to make sure that those voices of the LGBTQ+ in the community are heard. Outright International has a 99% score from Charity Navigator and does accept donations from overseas.



The drive itself will begin Monday, July 22nd, and will wrap up Monday, August 5th. We will use the time between now and the 22nd to do setup and preparation.



As in past years, we will have some league-wide donation incentives, including prizes that will be raffled off. In addition to that, though, we will also be having auctions! If you’ve participated in a charity drive here or in any of the other leagues before, you’re probably already familiar with this, but we will be taking “donations” in the form of things you’d like to auction off for other users to bid on. (Some examples might include player signatures, guest appearances on podcasts, media articles on a chosen topic, the name of your team’s arena, etc. We encourage you to get creative with it!) We hope that these auctions will give everybody the chance to participate even if they aren’t able to contribute financially.
