I think that every year in the SHL using FHM is going to always be based on the builds of the players as well as the strategies used. For that reason, I will always take a team that has had continuous success in the finals over a team that did really well in the regular season. For one, even though testing is not allowed anymore, strategies can still be changed and implemented as the managers watch their teams play. Nothing against Texas’s managers, but I think Luke is probably one of the best general managers this league has ever seen, and for that reason I think New England will come out on top. Not to mention, Texas only had four more wins in the regular season than New England did, so it’s not like Texas was far and away the better regular season team anyway. Like I said, nothing against Texas and their managers, but Luke is just a different type of animal when it comes to managing and finding success with an already really good roster.

Though Ongo Gablogian is still playing in the SMJHL, I was actually extremely impressed with the season he had. His points totals skyrocketed both in the regular season and in the playoffs compared to previous seasons, and it’s actually great to see he’s not a complete bender like I thought. This is mostly thanks to the fact that he got some power play time this year, which he has never got in the past. The most impressive thing for me was that he was almost a point per game in the playoffs, finishing with 9 points in 11 games. Obviously I would’ve loved to have played in more games in the playoffs than just 11, but I’ll take what I can get with Ongo.
