This season's Ideen Fallah Trophy feels all but wrapped up already. While throughout the season there have been multiple contenders it really feels like things are becoming clear down the stretch. At this point this is Doug Weight's award to lose. The only argument against him at this point is that he has 3 teammates in the top 6 in scoring in the league this season. The only player I feel can chase him down at this point is Colorado's Baron Samedi. While Weight has outproduced Samedi this season by 12pts, Samedi does not have a single teammate in the top 15 in scoring. Even so I don't expect this to pull too many voters in his favor. There is no workhorse goaltender that stands out this year to win the award. Yukon's Jakub Alexa leads the league in sv% as a rookie, but he's a late bloomer who took over part way through the season. That's not nearly enough volume to garner any MVP votes. At this moment in time, my vote would go to Weight.
