As professional athletes, pressure comes with the territory. You can try to run from it or tell yourself you won't fall victim to it, but you don't have a choice. It's human nature to feel that in important situations and if you're lucky enough, as an athlete, you're going to find yourself involved in those big moments. How to handle yourself is what separates the elite players from everyone else. There is no more pressure packed situation than the playoffs. Every play feels like the most important one and you, simultaneously, don't want to be the one who gives up the big play against while also wanting to be the one who gets the big play. Mistakes are magnified so you're always on guard. To try and handle the pressure, I really try to keep myself centred and in the moment. When I'm on the ice, I try to block out everything else and just see the game in front of me. Last season, we made the Challenge Cup and I had never experienced a moment like that. Now that I have that experience, I feel much more prepared for that moment if I ever get lucky enough to reach it again. (202 words)
