3: Javelin Bodine - RD

For Anchorage’s first pick, they selected Javeline Bodine 3rd overall, a right defenceman out of the United States. Bodine currently has 288 TPE, which is near the top of the draft class. Javelin is a smart player, using his ability to read plays on both the offensive and defensive side of the puck to impact the game. He’s also physically gifted in his abilities, allowing him to be in the right position most of the time. Javelin finished the season 8th in defenceman scoring in the league with 12 goals and 37 assists. This was also good for 2nd in defenceman rookie scoring.

14: Dieter Frühstück - RD

Anchorage’s second pick in the draft was Dieter Fruhstuck out of Rostock, Germany. Dieter sits at 303 TPE, which leads the team in rookie TPE, a great measure for how good this pick has turned out. Dieter is a defense first player who is incredibly strong, one of the strongest players in the league. His defensive skills allow him to shut down any opposing player in the SMJHL. He blocked an incredible 253 shots this season, which was second best in the league and first for rookies.

19: Barcus Juneau - RD

With their third selection, Anchorage chose Barcus Juneau from Toronto, Canada. Barcus has 301 TPE, putting him second on the team for TPE counts. He is an all around good defenceman that excels in all facets of the game. He has a particularly great shot for a defenceman, clapping huge bombs on net from the blueline. Barcus is easily the bravest player for the Armada. Barcus doesn’t flash on the scoresheet most nights, but his contribution to the team is much greater than it shows. He does the little things right on every shift.

23: Abbe Wass - LD

Anchorage’s fourth selection in the draft was Abbe Wass from Jokkmokk, Sweden. With a TPE balance of 297 this was a very good selection for the Armada. Abbe’s greatest attribute is their ability to predict the play in the defensive zone. Every shift, they are multiple steps ahead of the opposing team’s offensive players. Wass is also no slouch and can play long minutes on a nightly basis. For some reason, Wass took 45 faceoffs this season (???) and lost 75% of them but made up for it in every other aspect of the game.

35: Deven Rappleyea - RD

At 35th overall, the Armada made their fifth selection and chose Deven Rappleyea from Charlotte, NC, USA. Deven unfortunately comes in last with TPE count, sitting at 247. This is still a very respectable amount, and Deven will be a contributor for their entire time in Anchorage. Known as a pass first defenceman, Deven finds the perfect outlet on the breakout every time. This showed up on the scoreboard, where Rappleyea racked up 38 assists on the season.

36: Hughes Incorporated - LW

With their final selection, the Armada chose Hughes Incorporated out of Jurmala, Latvia. Hughes will go down as one of the biggest steals in recent memory. The player has racked up 299 TPE and has been a great presence in the locker room. Mr. Incorporated is an offensive powerhouse. On every shift they are flying around the ice generating scoring chances. Hughes finished sixth on the team in scoring with 18 goals and 35 assists, this is a great feat as a rookie winger. I’m expecting an offensive explosion from Hughes in his second season in the SMJHL.
