Hello one and all, it's that time of year again, where we all rest during the off season, and wait to see who our new team mates will be in the SHL entry draft. Well, this year I decided you all needed a little entertainment and a good laugh or two. So, I am giving you my first ever kdr media's mock draft S79. Here are my credentials.
The kdr media network has now done mock drafts for the ISFL and the PBE. I might have gotten one on the money picks in both of those drafts. As, I know even less on that the needs of this sim are, I am aiming for at least a 10% record, which I think means exactly 2 people going to the right team. I would also like to get at least 33% of the choices correct too. That is how confident I am in my progosticating abilities. I am in no war rooms, so I have no inside information and no scouting background here. Are you all ready for the best mockumentary the SHL has every seen. LFG!!!!!!! Oh, right, first how will I be doing this? Well I will look at the rosters and prospects of each team and then the draftee list and presto chango something will pop up on this list. 1.1 (via ) Minnesota finished 13th this season after finishing 6th in S77 and didn't make it past the 1st round of the playoffs. So, they are looking to turn it back around and make S77 look like their norm. Looking at their page, a couple of players might be looking to retire soon or ready for younger replacements being regressed a bit below the 1000 TPE mark. (I now realize I have no idea how bad regression hits in the SHL seems you can go 23 seasons, that is insane). Both of these players are wingers and they seem to be a RW short on their roster. With only one winger prospect, I see them going for this position. The pick is in... With the first pick in the draft the Monarchs select RW Jason Bourne user @SFresh3. The highest RW in TPE and a sucessful recreate with a nice amount of money in the bank. Bourne will fit here. 1.2 It has been 5 long seasons since the Syndicate have even finished in the top half of the league. Chicago is looking to end this rebuilding section and move on to the upper half of the league again. They only have 8 total Foward players on thier roster and one of those is heavily regressed. One of their two goalies is also in the last stages of their career. And their are also one short on the D line with only 5 listed. Looking at their prospects it is a short list of only 5 and two seem to be lagging behind their other S77 draftees. It looks like almost anything would go as a need here. The pick is in.... With the 2nd pick of the S79 draft Chicago takes. C - Nanashi Mumei - user @ValorX77 Another recreate Nanashi is currently second in earned TPE for the S79 class and has a bank over 120K. C is definitely a needed position as someone is currently playing out of position there. 1.3 (via. ) So, Montreal gets the first round pick the traded back and only fall down 3 places. They have had a very tough go as they have been in the bottom two places for the last 5 years. Can they finally turn something around? AS expected of a team with so many high picks the last few years, they are a young young team. And id does look like they might be ready to start creeping up the standings. All of their players except one or two will be above the 1000 TPE mark by the begining of the season and enough are above 1200 that they should start to gel. I will say their mix of positions is a little off, but we know that where you play across the front line can be flexible. However, they do only have 1 goalie on their roster in total including prospects, and since this mock draft holds all trades in abeyance, I think the pick is in... With the third pick in the S79 draft the Patriotes select G - Katharina Rosenthal user @Symmetrik if you only have one Goalie on your roster you get another. This will probably be wrong as they will probably either trade for or sign a G. But symmetrik would not be a bad option. Next! 1.4 Another team that hasn't seen the top half of the league in a half decade of seasons, the Rage are probably living up to their names at this point. Their roster at this point is a real hodgepodge, and is a large pool with everyone on the roter and with only one prospect left. It seems that they could do absolutely anything with this pick and I wouldn't be surprised. The pick is in... with the 4th pick of the S79 draft the Rage select LD - Hip Hurts user @juke the current top TPE earner of the class goes off the board at 4. Could find another former player, but he does have a bank infusion, so maybe it is a player coming back to the SHL after a while. Either way seems like a good pick to me. 1.5 Seattle are coming to the end of their rebuild as most of the others in the draft so far are. They made the playoffs for the first time in a while last season and had a very good S78 draft if I say so, getting some steals in round 2. A couple of veterans of the glory days are retiring and the young guns are looking to build on the playoffs. They also have a pretty deep prospect pool to call on in a year or two. This pick is probably about just keeping the rebuild on track and pushing on. And the pick is in... With the 5th pick in the draft Seattle selects C- Normand Marineau user @jason97 I think I might see a trade with this pick to progress and finalize the rebuild, but if not they grab the top TPE guy left with a little bit of bank already built up. 1.6 Hamilton have been a middle team for a while. Never in the very bottom, but never in the upper sphere wither for the last 5 year, the Steelhawks are looking for a change in fortunes. They have quite a number of older players which is probably why they never totally sunk down to the bottom of the league, but now they have to make a shift or they will find themselves sinking instead of floating to the top. And the pick is in... With the 6th in the S79 draft the Steelhawks take LW - Grindle Waters-Johnson user @Waters while they have players in the position they only have one true LW on the roster, so let's get a player who actually wants to play that position and not out of position players for the future. 1.7 Winnepeg are on the way down as they started the 5 year cycle in the top half and now are sinking down the standings. They will want to put a stop to that quickly. They must have had a lot of retirements and/or free agents this season as they only 10 players on their roster and 8 prospects. They have a lot of C, but one goalie and low on Dmen. What should we take here. The pick is in... With the 7th pick the Aurora take RD - Kiwi Söderberg-SnooksPlayer user @Aleris I feel like their G is a top shelf one with a few years left, so they can get a backup later. Sticking up on D is better for them and I have seen Soderberg a lot so WTH it's a pick. 1.8 (via. ) I beleive this is the last switch in that 3 team swap with the Blizzard moving back a little way. They have fallen a long way since fininshing with the best record in back to back seasons in S74-S75, they dropped right to the bottom 3. They have a couple of very old players and then very young core so you can kind of see why the drop off, they must have had a quick departure of players in S75. with the 8th pick in the S79 draft the Blizzard take G - QCCBOT4 user @Evokwhile it is not Minnesota which would match his last player as a QCC and Minn player, it is the pick Minn should have. And again they need a goalie to fill out their roster. And Evok is a good LR player with a ton of money in the bank. 1.9 (via) ) This is the second pick for the Aurora. Look above for the discussion of needs. The pick is in... With the 9th pick the Aurora select G- Jon-Isaac Forty-One user @C9Van with the second G off the board we will select one here for Winnepeg. 1.10 Toronto squeeked into the top 10 for the first time in the last 5 years this past year. They do have a good core roster, but their prospects lag behind a little. And one of their top D has now retired a little early I think. It seems like a get good value at this point. And the pick is in... with the 10th pick of the S79 draft the North Stars take C - Jauhnne HawkyPlayer user @Brenadyr A top TPE earner and I believe a new create to give new blook to the LR. 1.11 New England was the defending champion, but they got booted early in the playoffs this year. One of those teams that normally knows how to turn it on in the playoffs when it counts rather than a top regular season team. A team on the older side, which is expected with a perennially top half finish. They need to find new blood to keep them in that top half. There position assemblage is a little off. And the pick is in... with the 11th pick in the S79 draft the Wolfpack select C Ima Noobie - user @YetiTaz only a couple of C on their rosters YetiTaz will bring some new blood to the Wolfpack. I know him from the BPE and is a good LR presence there. 1.12 Philly has been one of the top teams keeping in the top 5 for the last 5 years. But have never made it to the finals, having been taken out on 3 occasion by the Wolfpack. They will be looking to finally make that breakthrough before their window closes. And right now they really have no prospects to speak of so it is time to start stocking up so they do not fall off too far. with the 12th pick of the S79 draft the Forge take RD - Dieter FrühstückPlayer user @bluesfan55 a recreate that will be ready to go and step in when their older players start to retire. 1.13 We are up to the land of the Ice and Snow and Buffalo. They slid out of the top half of the league this season, but did win in Rd 1 of the playoffs. They will look to get back in the right direction. Buffalo really has a complete team with a lot of players at all positions and a good set of prospects. I see a trade possible here. But if not the pick is in... with the 13th pick of the S79 draft the Stampede take LW- Christina Fantobens user @Fantobens bringing back their just retired longtime goalie is the pick to make right here. 1.14 New Orleans are up next A mid-level team normally out in the first round Nola will look to change their fortunes. A good set of players, but half are in regression country and only one prospect to speak of right now. It is time to build up. And the pick is in... with the 14th pick in the S79 draft New Orleans take RD - Jeremy Snugglemuffin III user @SchwarzNarr much of the D is aging so they take a top recreate left to get ready to take over. 1.15 another team normally in the top half, but never has much sucess in the playoffs only going to the 2nd round a couple of times. They want to get deeper in the playoffs while the time lasts. Most players are still in their primes or just entering them so Atlanta should be in contention for a few seasons to come. The cupboard is bare of prospect though, so it is take what is there. And the pick is in... with the 15th pick of the S79 draft the Inferno take LW - Darby Reznor user @WildfireMicro 1.16 (via The Blizzard are up with their second pick of the draft. see above and the pick is in... with the 16th pick of the S79 draft the Blizzard select C - Dejana Kaptina user @Valpix bringing back a player that was part of the great teams of the early 70s Seasons Valpix was an easy pick if still available and teams with current QCC teamate G - QCCBOT4 1.17 (via ) again a second pick, actually a third pick, so see above for needs. Maybe a trade at this point, but the pick is in... with the 17th pick of the S79 draft the Aurora take C - Hamper Linthome user @Sburbine another player returning to the fold of their old team. Sburbine was a longtime player for Winnepeg with their last create. So, since they are still around let's have deja vu all over again. 1.18 (via ) coming back after the #1 pick of the draft the Monarchs also have 2 of the last 3 picks of the 1st round. and the pick is in... with the 18th pick of the S79 draft the Monarchs take RD - Barcus Juneau user @icewindoo they take the take TPE earner left at this point and look to build. He is a new user I beleive. 1.19 making a quick rise into the top 5 and a trip to the finals was just what TB was looking for after being middle of the pack for a while. They look to continue that trend. They have a good core to keep them going, there prospects are mainly of the offensive side, so it might be good to look for a D to shore up the prospects. And the pick is in... with the 19th pick of the S79 draft the Barracuda select RD - Javelin Bodine user @blix900 another recreate with a bank that can step in when the team is ready to refresh. 1.20 (via ) their 3rd pick of the first round will close out the round. and the pick is in.... with the final pick of the 1st round of the S79 draft the Monarchs select LD - Kenneth Lind user @Canadice well really this is more of a pick to recognize the work canadice does in SSL and I am sure he is a great presence in the LR so that a wrap. And that brings a close to my mockumentary of a draft for the S79 class. I hope a get a couple right. Should I actually enter this in the Classic Mock draft for TPE, maybe I will and bring down my top 10 which I think has nothing to do with this roster. So, how many do you think I will get right? Tune in tommorrow @maybe 8pm Anyway it was fun as mocks normally are and hope to do it again next year to keep my bank growing and play for Seattle in the SHL someday soon. Please excuse any typos, the editing team is on vacation right now Code: words: 2952 |
