Lias definitely helps out with prospect development during the off season. He grew up attending Gunnar Söderberg’s camps back in Sweden, and then during his SHL career has also attended Cassius Darrow’s torture sessions as well. But as he’s gotten older and nears retirement, he has shifted his focus from demanding so much of his body to helping impart the knowledge he’s gained to younger players. He has really enjoyed helping out the Panthers’ younger players, and has volunteered to help out, even before his first actual season with Los Angeles started. When he was traded, he got to work right away, and while he still has the most on ice chemistry with Mikko Rashford, it was probably a huge help to have already put in that much ice time with his new team before they actually had to play any games. He hopes that the younger players see him as one of their role models on the team, but more than that he hopes he is a positive influence on the players who will still be out there long after he has retired.
