M'Baku Olubori does not mind the media (and the media loves him). He’s fond of dropping snippets that make for good quotes, and is unafraid to speak his mind. While other players have earned their place of more prominence (most notably Erik Bergmark) in marketing campaigns for Baltimore, Baku is never far. Even as he ages and his role changes for the team, you can expect his big smile and commitment to the Baltimore community to keep him in the mix. While some players might leverage their media appearances to lock in sponsorship deals, Baku has never worried about that. He stays his authentic self whenever and however he can, which still naturally draws the right people and opportunities his way.

The fans love him (though a vocal minority have issues with him for some reason they can’t articulate). After it was announced that Ekaterina Valieva would no longer wear a letter for the team, some have even begun chanting “captain” when Baku touches the puck during home games. He’s never worn a letter for the Platoon, but it doesn’t appear that bothers him much. His focus is the team and winning (and making racists mad, of course).
