The Sullivan Center, home of the Anchorage Armada, is not the prettiest or cleanest hockey arena you'll ever see. It's not exactly a secret that pests of various kinds have made their home in the old barn. So it was a pleasant surprise when the arena staff noticed a black and white cat roaming the back hallways of the arena one day last season. With a decline in mouse sightings accompanying the presence of the new feline, the Armada were happy to adopt her as their unofficial mascot.

Though she's somewhat shy and is rarely seen when the arena fills up on game days, "Torpedo" (or "Torps" for short) often comes out in the quieter moments of daily arena life. The players love leaving bits of food out for her, and can often coax her out from the myriad of hiding places within the arena. Torps has also been known to show her thanks to the players by leaving a dead mouse in the dressing room from time to time.
