The most important non training staff member at the Seattle Argonauts facility is the therapy pets. Hockey players need a way to unwind and release stress, and the therapy pets, of which there is a wide variety of breeds and types, including such oddities as capybara, micro pigs and weasels, along the more normal cats and dogs and rabbits. Every player gets a chance to play and pet with a few of them after practice, and it has shown to boost the energy and mood of the players substantially. Non players also get to have a session of course, and some family members have made good use of the service as well. Some of the children associated with the team have formed great bonds with the therapy animals, and have turned taking care of them into community service credits which is great. On occasion the team has brought the pets to a local hospital to visit people in wards.
