Written Option 2:
Before the advent of social media, players had only two sources of feedback from the public at-large: in-person interactions with fans, and stories in the media. Both of these were fairly easy to avoid if a player really didn't want to hear what people actually thought of them. These days, the internet and social media are an ever-present force in everyone's life, and it's no exception for Barcus Juneau. Before he turned pro, Barcus wasn't overly active on social media. He has always been part of friend networks on a few platforms, but he's a bit skeptical of the power and reach of social media. When he was first drafted into the SMJHL and the eyes of the hockey world started to turn his way, Barcus decided to keep a close lid on his socials, and he has been generally pretty quiet ever since. He does dare to look occasionally at who is following him and what they have to say, but he knows that only madness lays in that direction. What matters is what his friends and family say, and he is happy to make his public statements on the ice. ![]() |
