I think you would be lying or at least doing a huge disservice to yourself if you said you weren't following or at least looking at what people say about you online. Like my player's dad, Vanderberg Sr.. He wasn't a star but went out there and did his job night after night and as a result there wasn't much said about him other than when he would pop up in trade rumors. My player, his son, is a Jesster winner and is shaping up to be a cornerstone of the Stampede defense so of course there's more said about him and his ceiling, his stats, etc. I like to be as close to the fans as I can be whether that's interacting on social media or giving out autographs so of course I am surprising some fans with mentions on instagram or on X. He doesn't start the conversation but can sometimes be found jumping in to make a fan's day with a reply or an @.
