While some were excited to get Jarrod Lakemore on the desk, there were others who were a bit skeptical that Lakemore would be forthcoming, entertaining, or particularly interesting in his role. Lakemore's interactions with the press had generally been stoic and unassuming, as he offered old platitudes as responses to virtually every question, never showing up his teammates or coaches, never offering anything even approaching offensive or inflammatory. When asked about Buffalo's upcoming series with Toronto, Lakemore continued this trend, merely offering, "Toronto is a strong, well-coached team, and we'll need to be at our best if we want to move further in the playoffs." When asked about specific game plans against Toronto, Lakemore had this insight, "We've spent a lot of time going over the film. I trust our coaches to come up with a plan to slow them down, and it's on us as players to execute that plan." When asked about Toronto C Aumy Junior II, a player he had mentored briefly as a WJC assistant, he only had this to say, "Aumy is a great player and we'll have our hands full trying to keep him off the score sheet." It seems unlikely Lakemore will be asked to join the analyst desk in the future. (216 words)
