As my first SMJHL season winds to an end, I feel like reminiscing on some of the firsts and great experiences I had while playing for the Yukon Malamutes. It was overall a successful season for myself and my team, making it to game 7 of the second round of the playoffs.
My first career goal is something I’ll never forget. It took me a few games of adjustment to get in the mix, but I managed to sneak one past the goalie in the 3rd game of the season, from there I never looked back. I came streaking down the wing and snapped one far post and in, something I was know. For in my minor career. Another fond memory is how amazing my team mates, coaches and management treated me. Being young, away from home, in the Yukon of all places was incredibly scary. The team welcomed me, made me feel safe, loved and cared for. I can’t explain how lucky I am to be a part of this team. I can’t wait for next year, I’m already training hard and looking to come in better than ever. |
