Hello SHL,

This is another announcement from me. I am super proud that we have all available SHL & SMJHL STHS data in the index.

First of all let me do a few thank you

First of all thank you to the OG. @.bojo for helping to preserve the data in a way we can still use it to this day. Will always thank bojo for the work he did in the S20’s and 30’s to preserve the stats from being lost to time

Then I would like to thank @juke for helping on the data wrangling side and @Lime for SVGing all the SMJHL logos. Both took a good amount of time, and without them it would have taken a lot longer

Then for @esilverm for SVGing all the SHL logo’s and helping with the process as well. Plus code reviewing

This journey started about 1 1/2 years ago gathering the data and then going through the process of getting the SHL and SMJHL data onto the index. Probably spent over 100+ hours in development, gathering the data, converting the data, making sure everything that was converted was correct, etc. So I am super proud that we can cross it over the finish line today. Helping preserve the STHS data is super important to me. So getting it onto the index has been a long term goal of mine. Having it finally get finished makes me super happy.



The Data

So what data do we have

We have all the SHL standings and playoff results
We have all the SHL regular season stats
We have the SHL playoff stats from S17-S52
We have the SMJHL standings from S10-S52 and the playoff results from S15-S52
We have the SMJHL regular season stats from S15-S52
We have the SMJHL playoff stats from S17-S52

For forwards and defensemen. They are all either Center or Left Defense as well. For simplicity sake as before S30 we do not have the player ratings so we do not know each players individual position. So we simplified as just Center or Left Defense if they were a forward or a defenseman. If you do see your player and he is a different position than he was for that season please let me know and I will fix that. Anything before S30 we used Machine learning to guess the position

For all of the players, they have their unique ID’s, and those who played in both STHS and FHM, they will have their FHM ID as well. So everything is connected.


So what can you see. You can see all of the old SHL & SMJHL players. And they are also connected to their FHM players in case they overlap. For the case of Beaujeaux Biscuit

If you have any questions feel free to ask in this thread or dm me. If you see an error please let me know as well. It is bound that there is an error somewhere. Whether thats a logo not in a certain season, or a name thats wrong. Just let me know and I will fix it as soon as I can.


Future Plans

The future goals of this project is pretty straightforward. It is to bring the IIHF and WJC stats over. As well as the player ratings that we do have. All of this will be a big headache, so dont expect them soon. Though if you want to help please let me know

@Artemis gave me a bunch of the old seasons of data. So we now have all the way back to S22’s worth of information in there


Other Changes

When a team has a Goal Differential of 0 the color is now white
For a goalies career GAA and SV%, they were being incorrectly calculated. So now they are correctly calculated. Thank you to @boom for bringing that up
