After the rush of draft week, Claude L'Castor would search for an apartment at a decent price off of the Vegas Strip, trying to get there ahead of time for training camp to fully adjust to living in Las Vegas.. His mother would insist on making the trip down for the first couple of days before training camp to help him settle in. Parents, am I right? But after he gets his place somewhat arranged and groceries packed, he would likely treat her to a nice meal before she would head back home to allow him to settle in and focus on hockey. Though she would remind him that she is a phone call away and she is looking forward to flying out for his first SMJHL start.
The day before training camp, Claude would likely head to the practice facility along with The Dodge Ram 1500 Hellcat Memorial Arena to get a feel of his surroundings, maybe try to make light conversation with some of the arena workers to get himself comfortable with the names and faces around. It does not matter if you run a food stand, are a Zamboni driver, or one of the team executives, he'll try to treat you with some respect. Finally, the day of the first training camp would arrive. He would get up early and try to get some morning tea at a cafe along the way. He barely slept a wink the night before, he needs a little boost of energy. Walking into the locker room area, he would see the Navy and gold of the Battleborn and his gear at his stall. Any of his new teammates he would see, he would introduce himself, shake their hands, and leave a good first impression. Especially to any members of the team's leadership group, he would try to talk to. About 35 minutes before practice starts, he would be in his gear and step onto the ice to skate any nerves off and stretch. With the blow of the whistle from the coach, his first practice would begin. Word Count: 346 |
