Alexi Piastri has an unconventional training routine that is very different than most other SHL players. Piastri doesn't spend much time at the gym, but he's extremely active and is one of the better conditioned athletes in all of the league. Piastri's primary training routine is catching waves along the west coast, or wherever he may be able to get out in the water and work on his conditioning. Surfing is actually extremely good exercise and has helped Piastri build up his core strength, balance, and kept him in an incredible place mentally. You have to believe that surfing may be behind the quickness and agility that Piastri has been known for throughout his career. Make no mistake about it, paddling around the pool during a 14 foot swell will kick your ass and definitely help you build up your strength. Now that Alexi is a veteran in the league, he's hopeful that all of the surfing that he's been doing will help him prolong his career.
