Jacob Marsh I would say has a primary focus on lower body training and cardio in the offseason. He includes a ton of plyometric excercises and increases resistance where he can (resistance bands or parachutes). Box jumps seem to be his favorite as that day you can finally add another level consistently is a rush maybe even bigger than adding another plate to squats. Along with the lower body he takes a balanced approach to the upper body, not overtraining any one muscle group. Increasing neck strength is another focus for Marsh. While not a fighter yet having that extra strength in his neck will only help when it comes time the gloves. While he anticipates giving more than receiving in any fight he is in, having that additional cushion to absorb blows will come in handy. Mentally he tries to work on clearing his mind so he can focus maniacally on the task at hand in the moment. He utilizes various meditation techniques that he does in numerous scenarios, whether that is in his makeshift zen garden at his NewFoundland apartment or focusing on deep breathing exercises in the sauna post workout. He's still refining his offseason routine and once called up to the SHL is eager to see what resources are available to him in the big leagues. |
