Oh woe be thy name,
for it is yet another game in the season of ho ho hos between these two old foes. In green are the surging Stampede, who Hamilton hope to impede. Though for an hour they had tried, When the horn sounded it was tied. Through two they were sublime, yet now it was overtime. For in the third they were lax, and allowed the hawks to come back. During the break Lakemore declared, as he raised his fist in the air, "Just be sure not to concede, and I'll give us what we need." With confidence he took the ice, he didn't need to think twice, for it was he, you would bet, who'd put the puck in the net. And quickly that chance came, an open shot to end the game. With a crack, puck met stick, he'd be ending this quick. Gasps echoed through the crowd, he thought it would be loud, but it was a lump of coal, he'd shot wide of the goal. His expression had turned to dismay, as Hamilton had cleared it away. When Buffalo surely had won, instead the hawks had a two on one. Lakemore turned to give chase, a look of shock on his face. Rather than being praised as a champ, it was Lahey who lit the lamp. ![]() ![]() |
