Growing up Nathaniel was always either at the old barn rink with the self pushed zamboni, or out on the frozen pond. He remembers it was always a pain to get the puck out of the snow bank. As far as the outdoor games go though, they don't replicated that feeling at all. To get something similar, Barca will head to a community rink on an off day in the winter and just play around with the skaters there, making sure to bring along some sweet swag for the fans to enjoy, and the best thing is they now have an awesome memory.
These outdoor games are not that. The climate is bad - usually too hot or too cold, the sun can get to an annoying part, and the stadium usually isn't good for the fans. It's a cash grab by the league to sell extremely inflated tickets and over priced "classic" gear to fans. And now they are putting on an outdoor game in Texas? In what world does that make sense. |
