Jamie Fraser has limited knowledge of modern sports, his hockey skills coming only from his time playing shinty which was safely not on ice. The winter Olympics are a new opportunity for him to meet people of new cultures and experience new sports. He is fascinated by the idea of bobsled, it is reckless and dangerous but the speed is captivating. He watches women's hockey to get new ideas about the sport he plays. Figure skating is a beautiful artistic expression where he appreciates both the choreography and athleticism but is confused by how something artistic can be scored competitively, this gets many sympathetic laughs as he begins to ask friends about it. Curling is fascinating and strategic, a sport he invests a great deal in learning, if he ever ends up back in his timeline he would love to introduce it to his country. His absolute favorite sport is simply speed skating though, the simplicity and ability is captivating.
