Written Option 1:
The movie would be a German production called "Prügelknaben" (Whipping Boys), which would tell the story of the German version of the Miracle that happened at the 1976 Winter Olympics in Austria and ended with a very unexpected bronze medal. After being ridiculed by the press as whipping boys for the bigger teams due to losing in the warm-up games against Romania and Poland, the team formed a bond and became better as the tournament went on. In the end they had the same points total as Finland and the US, but the three-way tie was broken by first comparing the teams' head-to-head goal differential, then the remaining tied teams' goal ratio. Uwe would be behind the scenes training the actors and giving notes to the writers about lines regarding the on-ice action and hockey lingo in general. As a minor reward he would have a cameo as the association member who enters the locker room after the final game to bring the news that they actually won bronze. |
