IIHF Suggestion post

People who put their players in Quebec actually sign up for the Quebec IIHF.
COME ON! IT IS RIGHT THERE! Wait, that's more of a Pet-peeve. More serious: I think some people have pointed out a major size difference between Federations. It is basically Canada and the US being large enough to field multiple teams with spares on their own. Then you have Finland, Sweden generally good sized, then the rest have some variance in how much they struggle. As a new user who did some research- Then waited several years Then remembered this place existed, caved, looked in again, things can be a little intimidating in regards to the sign up that what nation they pick can be an afterthought for some people. Relaxing the rules on transfers in a way can off-set that. Someone picks their player from their hometown in Canada/US, and by the time they think "Maybe I should change" it could be a little too late. Second, to maybe help different Federations to have a chance to build connections and grow, maybe create a space where people who are unsure of a Federation to join, whether a recreate who isn't tied down thinking about going to a new Federation for a new experience, or a new user unsure where to place their player, can go and people are able to answer their questions and give them options. There should be some do's and don'ts, maybe have only a select number of people there, but I also argue in the case of a person without a IIHF Fed, they don't have the "commitment" of someone who has already selected one or of an SMJHL/SHL Player who has their team. So it isn't as outrageous to go "Oh, you're a left wing sniper? I know my [Fed here] doesn't have one yet. So that's an option for you." or to answer questions. That way also if someone has a question in Discord, we can go "Hey, if you're looking for a team, this thread/discord/whatever is a good place to start and people will help you find a home." In the end the WJ and IIHF is a fun thing. It's nice you guys created this thread and are looking at ways to improve. You are less corrupt than most real life international sporting orgs. <3 ![]() |
