The story of the year has to be the meteoric rise of the Seattle Argonauts up the standings this season into legitimate contention for the Challenge Cup. After several seasons in the SHL basement and a full tear down rebuild, the Argos improved from 59 points to 85 points on their way to the second best record in the Western Conference to earn home ice advantage in the playoffs for the first time in nearly an SHL decade. Furthermore, they possessed one the biggest improvements in goal differential between two consecutive season going from -66 in S79 to +31 in S80. While this team was expected to turn the corner on their rebuild over the next few seasons, this ascent to contention can be considered ahead of schedule for a team that is still very young and will continue to improve on this impressive season. They are set up to become the SHL's next dynasty over the coming seasons as they will only get better and better.
