Every season, there are teams that take a big leap from the season before. One of those teams this season was the Manhattan Rage. They jumped from 53 points in Season 79 all the way to 80 points in Season 80. A staggering climb up the standings for Manhattan, one that many did not see coming.

Looking at the difference between 79 and 80, the biggest thing they did was clamp down defensively. They went from 302 goals against to 245. The biggest factor was their 3 top defensemen jumping their TPE count. They jumped an average of 200 more TPE per player from season 79. That is a crazy jump for 3 players, especially ones that play the same position. Even with the forwards, they gained a ton of TPE as well. The players showed a desire to get better in the off-season and the results matched the work they put in. In this league, the simplest way to get better is earn more. Manhattan is proof of that, with their players making huge jumps in TPE and turning that into a 27 point improvement.
