Hockey is known for the emergency back up goalie. Every once and a while, the nation rallies around a guy coming out from the actual stands and strapping on pads when something unheard of happens. But the last thing that any player wants is for all 16 of their teammates to go down in a sudden fit with food poisoning. And so while the referees have given me an hour to try and field the rest of our roster, I'm not exactly sure the best way to do it. Usually, hockey teams can use the first few minutes between periods for entertainment of the fans that are in attendance. Instead, I will use that time to hold a quick set of try-out like activities with folks in the stands who think they have what it takes to play for Chicago in the rest of the contest. I'll take the top 15 players and get the equipment staff to get them suited up for our next period. And we don't even need to hold any open tryouts for the fill-in goalie. As I mentioned, we've already got an EBUG in the arena. There's no way we are holding onto this lead, but you bet its gonna be an experience that those folks will never forget!
