IIHF Federation Head Toast's Idiot of the Year 2021
In terms of teams that have shown a rapid growth season over season, it was certainly the Seattle Argonauts that made the greatest gains. Where last year the Argos bled goals at inopportune times and found themselves in a deep hole in goal differential, things normalized for us this year and resulted in a positive swing of 97 goals, from -66 to +31. This was largely driven by better performances in net as both goaltenders were able to come in at or above .900, but there is a looming threat building in Seattle given the relatively young age of most of the roster. The team has not even entered its peak seasons in terms of TPE as the young players leading the charge continue to grow and gain experience. For us to see such a positive jump this early should mean that further improvement is on the way. While there was certainly some luck involved in their season, it was not so egregious as to discount the fact that the sheer amount of TPE gains the Argonauts will see should counteract any regression to the mean.
