3. Secret Plans
It’s never too early to start thinking about how you’re going to gain a competitive edge next season! How is your team going to go the extra mile to get wins next season? Is it a secret training regimen? Sneaky equipment modifications? Booby trapping the visiting teams’ locker room? Anything goes.

Kelowna was playing in unknown territory this past season. We really had no idea what to expect and our training showed that at first. We had players all over the place figuring out what worked for them and their skills. Practices were always something of a nightmare because you never know which teammate would come in with a different move they wanted to practice. Since we are a smorgasbord of different nationalities and countries it seemed like everyone had a special trick they wanted to share. One guy even tried to convince us that imitating a rubber duck, and ducks in general was the way to go. It was much to our surprise that the two things that worked the most was occult magic in the form of our very own wizard and... the ducks themselves.

So how do we now translate success into strategy to keep building? It is going to have to be a combination of all of the different aspects we learned from the past year plus a little extra sauce. First we have to beef up the occult magic. A little extra voodoo hoodoo to get the pucks to stick on our sticks more and get that extra over under on the other teams. This will really help with our passing cohesion and just general mockery of other teams when they see us skate in our magically empowered boots. So in order to keep up with this magic many in the team have been insisting we focus on upping our physicals and our just general body abilities. Magic is multiplicative and works better when it has some underlying numbers to build off. 3x1 is still only 3 but 3x14? Now we're hitting big numbers. So watch out as we become rolling fire on the ice.

Once we have the augmentation all set up, its about the rituals. This is where the ducks come in. You see, rubber ducks have two very special qualities which we liked to combine with magic in order to really bring out our full potential. In the first place, they are rubber. Have you every seen the movie flubber? Now imagine flubber but on ice, with people going really really fast. The occult magicv melts the rubber ducks and infuses them with our bodies. Now when we are hit, other players bounce right off and usually fall down allowing us to move with ease. The rubber is so reactive that we also hit them and the same thing happens, but not to us. No we stay upright because of our conditioning and magic boots. So now we have this unfair advantage where we have this protective armor that just envelops us with this might protection and we have speed and skills.

The last piece of the puzzle is how are we going to improve ourselves to best the other team's goalie. The only thing that stands in our way. The answer here is that there is not going to be any magic or special abilities. It is going to have to come down to numbers and straight up puck assault. Without a team to support them we will start averaging 60-75 shots a night with the entire time spent in the offensive zone. We will cycle pucks and demoralize the other team until it is just the goalie playing against 5 players. It will be glorious. Some of us will dance and some of us will shoot. Some of us will sing and some will just sit there and read textbooks about drilling holes right behind the goalie. We are going to create a new masterclass of all masterclasses on distraction.

When we put it all together, we are going to be some supreme magical force fueled by taunts and rubber, who fight like ducks.

1. Fan Appreciation Day
Your team is giving back to their supporters by holding a fan appreciation day for one of their games, where the team will hand out a special commemorative item to show thanks for their continued support of the franchise. You have been tasked to design the product to be given out to the attendees (can be a rally towel, foam finger, bobble head, etc.) Write a blurb about the item, including details on during which game was / will be given out.

So Kelowna heard of a wonderful American institution called Medieval Times and realized that they could use that model to adapt and create their own unique event with the same theme and take. They worked with marketing extraordinaries to work on rebranding parts of the ice and different booths and sections of the arena into a model of a coliseum with tournaments. Besides the fact that big old shanks of mutton and roasts were being offered as well as other medieval reminisces, the main attraction that is going to be offered is a joust for kids under the age of 4 that would get to ride on the shoulders players as they skated (slowly) against a machine that would try to knock them down. Part of the attraction would also have been crowning a king and queen from amongst the crowd as well as other fun titles.
