12. On the Radar
Write a pre-draft scout report on your player from the perspective of a journalist covering the prospects of the S81 SHL draft class. What do possible SHL suitors have to be excited (or perhaps wary?) about when it comes to potentially drafting your player?
Shoots: Right Height/Weight: 6’0” 190 lbs Born: Optimus Autonomous wasn’t born but rather created January 7, 2047 at the Tesla Giga Texas Robotics Factory Scouting Report
Optimus Autonomous is an unusual scout for the sheer fact that they are a robot. However, as one that is still learning the game, I will approach this in the same way I would if I were scouting a human. Optimus Autonomous is graceful on skates and imaginative with the puck. Their first season in the SMJHL wasn’t one to write home about but it was one of steady and noticeable growth. They had a mixed bag of moments of brilliance and mistakes. Optimus shined on defense and gave the Ottawa Highlanders a much needed boost on the back check. They are arguably the best two-way forward in the class. Optimus possesses a strong ability to read and anticipate along with a great combination of strength, balance, and puck handling that could become elite with continued growth and make them extremely difficult to contain. The one area on offense that needs some work would be their shot. They struggled to put the puck on net at times, and when they did, it often missed the target. There was some noticeable improvement here near the end of the season and in the playoffs but time will tell whether or not it’s a real issue or just a needed tweak to mechanics. Regardless of the cause, Optimus Autonomous is a hard worker and is eager to improve making them one of the best forwards in the draft and a surefire top 10 pick. Not yet ready for the next level but give them a couple seasons. I would not be surprised one bit if we’re talking about Optimus Autonomous for the Ryan Jesster Award after his first season in the SHL.

16. Goals
Although your career may still be in its early stages, it's still a great time to think about the future. What are some goals you have for your career, or some personal goals for the site? Are you striving for a HOF induction? Getting a site job?
When I created Atticus Hale, I was confident in saying that I was going to put in the work to be a max earner and one of the highest earners in our draft class if not THE highest. Because of that, I also had some lofty goals for my player. What I didn’t realize at the time was that having lots of TPE did not translate into being a superstar. Boy was I naive.
Knowing what I know now hasn’t really changed how I approach my goals. I have learned to temper expectations though. I think everyone has high hopes for their player and wants them to be the best but it doesn’t always work out that way. Still, my new player (Optimus Autonomous) is meant to be a redemption to my first player so the lofty goals remain.
For my personal goals, I want to hit 2,000 TPE. That shouldn’t be a problem. To up the difficulty, I want to exceed Atticus Hale’s peak TPE of 2,140. One personal goal that I just achieved was the completion and release of the S77 charity cards before the start of S81. For future personal goals, I’ve been wanting to get more involved in the FHM tactics side of things both for my own personal understanding and for potential future management endeavors. Maybe on of these days.
For player goals, it would be great to win an award while Optimus is in the SMJHL. Ultimately though, I would love for them to at least compete for the Ryan Jesster award and become an award winner at some point in their career. I want Optimus to have at least one 100 point season. Something I really wanted to achieve with Atticus Hale but just couldn’t get over the hump. Hale does hold the majority of the NOLA offensive franchise records so you can add that to the list of things I’d like to tackle. Of course, the ultimate player goal is to have Optimus immortalized in the hall of fame. I have unfinished business in NOLA so a consolation to ALL of this would be to win a cup.
