12. On the Radar
Write a pre-draft scout report on your player from the perspective of a journalist covering the prospects of the S81 SHL draft class.
What do possible SHL suitors have to be excited (or perhaps wary?) about when it comes to potentially drafting your player?
Scouting Report - William Marshal
Marshal has flown under the radar for a lot of S80, but SHL GM's are taking notice of the giant power forward. He may not have the flashiest skillset, but he already has the physical tools of a SHL veteran. Marshal tallied 47 points in his rookie season with the Battleborn. While these aren't mind boggling numbers, Marshal's ability to score while also providing a menacing presence in front of the net is what is turning heads. Right now Marshal projects as a late 1st, early 2nd round pick, but some Analysts have had him as high as the top 10. The biggest question surrounding Marshal is if he can continue with the work ethic he demonstrated his rookie year. Reports about his activity and lack of conditioning could lead to Marshal sliding in the draft. I wouldn't expect him to make it out of the 2nd round though, and if a team does manage to get him in the 2nd they'll be pleased with their pick.

It's almost officially the offseason. Whether you just won the cup or didn't even make it past the first round of the playoffs,
it's time to take a break and look toward the SHL draft. Tell us how you're spending your time this offseason, whether it be with family or friends.
Marshal has been spending his offseason in the gym and working with his new Vancouver coaches on his defensive game. After finishing 8th in the standings with the Nevada Battleborn, Marshal made it a personal goal to fix the holes in his defensive game. The Battleborn had a horrendous record on the road this season, and despite priding himself on his defensive capabilities, Marshal had the worst plus minus on the Battleborn, as well as several other advanced defensive stats. These holes in his game ultimately led to a trade to Vancouver, where Marshal has been working hard to reshape his playstyle into a more defensive minded power forward. Emphasis on puck handling and passing drills will also be a part of Marshal's offseason regimen. Going in to S81 he expects to be a defensive stalwart who can feed the scoring talent that the Whalers already have. Whether he has the stamina or not to log top line minutes remains to be seen

7. Winner Winner Chicken
At the end of the day, what we all really strive for is the Four Star Cup. It takes everyone's best efforts, an unrelenting determination to win and hard work to be able to hoist the glorious trophy. Out of the 16 teams in playoffs, only one can win the 4 Star Cup. Who won and why? Were they the best team on these playoffs?
Congrats to the Quebec City Citadelles on the S80 SMJHL championship! This came as a surprise to probably no one. After their killer preseason and taking a look at their team composition, I had them as number 1 in my regular season standings. After they spent all season crushing the competition, I picked them to win the championship. And here we are. Turns out winning in the SMJHL, at least this season, means stacking as many capped players as possible. Now I got to give credit where it's due, the Carolina Kraken won game 5 and 6 to force a game 7. I also picked Carolina to win the Southern conference and go to the ship, so again, no big surprises there. But it was as close as it could be despite having the inferior team TPE wise, which shows that it really could go to any team any year. You just got to draw the right cards

You have been designated as the team's official Fun Director! Now, everyone is looking for some sort of fun activity where you all can spend an afternoon or day to chill,
hang out and build some team spirit. Especially after a long and stressful season, what are your plans to ensure everyone has a great time?
William Marshal is taking the Whalers to Vegas! After an unexpected trade to Canada, Marshal is suffering from gambling withdrawal after just 2 days. What better way to bond with a new team and spin the slots just one... last... time, than bussing the team to Vegas? As the official fun director, Marshal's thought process was "who doesn't have fun in Vegas?" Those willing to partake in the debauchery made the trek down to the desert and met up with some of Marshals former Battleborn teammates. While this off ice behavior contributed to Marshals less than stellar defensive play and playoff performance, hopefully one last hurrah will get the gambling bug out of his system. A change of scenery certainly won't hurt.

3. Secret Plans
It’s never too early to start thinking about how you’re going to gain a competitive edge next season! How is your team going to go the extra mile to get wins next season? Is it a secret training regimen? Sneaky equipment modifications? Booby trapping the visiting teams’ locker room? Anything goes.
The Whalers are in desperate need of a solution to make a big jump in the standings this year. Acquiring William Marshal for picks may help, but as a 350 capped player he doesn't really move the needle. The Whalers need development from their youngsters. They need several S81 players to "break the cap". That's why we are using the ever famous, "Mike's Secret Stuff" from space jam (definitely not PEDs). With the help of Mikes Secret Stuff, our rookies and sophomores surely will break the 350 cap, accelerate us right to 425 before the season starts, and the Whalers will be competing with the likes of Quebec and Carolina during sim 1.

Although your career may still be in its early stages, it's still a great time to think about the future. What are some goals you have for your career, or some personal goals for the site? Are you striving for a HOF induction? Getting a site job?
My goals with this player are to really get a feel for the FHM sim and understand builds so I can be more creative with my next player. At the moment I am just absorbing information about what does and doesn't work at various TPE levels. My goals for this player are
1. At least surpass 1800 TPE. Obviously I'd like to max, but I want to stay realistic and not burn out if real life comes up.
2. Stay with one team throughout my career. Out of my hands, but I don't plan on testing free agency
3. Play any role on a winning team. Who doesn't want a cup?
