Even though the Nevada Battleborn had a rough regular season, I can't help but feel proud of myself and the team, and excited for the future. Harland Sanders exceeded all of my individual expectations, becoming a 25 goal, 50 point player AND recording a hat trick in his rookie campaign. It's been exciting to see myself among the top performers statistically in such a large rookie class, but there was room for growth. Sanders also lead the rookie class in giveaways, something that surely led to pucks in the back of his own net. There are a few moments from this season that stick out to me. First, draft day. Being selected in the 2nd round after nearly no discord activity and admitting to scouts I wasn't sure how much I'd earn was a great feeling, and motivated me to be the best I could. Secondly, as the regular season went on, and the trend of the team became clear, activity hardly waivered. The locker room stayed strong even when the losses stacked up, and that is energy that will be carried over for seasons to come. Lastly, a team with no playoff aspirations taking the S80 runners-up to seven games in an epic clash was exciting from start to finish, and I will always remember the glorious (if brief) show Nevada put on this postseason.
