Of course, especially in a team-based sport of hockey, one clutch individual effort in a significant game or moment will cement yourself as a "hero" in a certain franchise. However, if one single moment of a player's career turns them as a hero, one single moment can also ruin their career and their reputation. Who cares if the player played extremely well on ice if their attitude of the ice is awful? To me, a hockey hero is a player who is great both on ice and off the ice. It is someone who positively influences their community by caring or even contributing to needs. Although it is their job to get on ice and perform, it is also their duty as human beings to care for the environment, people in need, local communities, and the society in general in a positive fashion. By bringing a good attitude or even supporting specific faculties, only then would I call the hockey player a hero. |
