Forwards:
Probably the hardest part of making this team had to be the forwards. I spent a lot of time deciding weither to go with 4 all out 0-0-5 offensive powerhouse lines or weither to build my team more strategically. In the end I decided the strategic route. My 1st line is going to be the main part of my offense, Witzel-Webb-Klose is easily the best offensive line you can get out of this team and they'll be relied upon for most of my scoring. My 2nd line gets interesting, I took the best pure defensive forwards i can get and put them in a trapping role, shutting down the oppositions top 6 scoring lines is the only goal of this line. These players are capable of top 6 minutes and should do an excellent job at reducing the contributions of other top sixes. I used Carlsson as a forward because of the depth on defense. Next up is the 3rd line. McKeil-Wilson-Martucci, these guys playing against other 3rd lines will be absolutely unstoppable. These are three extremely high producing players and they will be doing nothing but scoring goals for me on the 3rd line. Finally, the fourth line. This is the absolute, go-out-and-hit-everything-that-moves line, these are the three players best suited to play a good hit and grind game, personally I feel a good team is made up of not only skill but of a good all around game and this forward core I've put together gives me the best chance to win games.

Defense:
I built my defense to match my offense, the first pairing has some more offensive dmen who will do an excellent job helping out the offense. My 2nd pairing of Drake and Smirnov is going to match my 2nd line as the pure all out shutdown defense line. Drake's defense is maxed out so he was a rather easy choice for this line, as was Smirnov. My 3rd pairing is also going to match my 3rd line as being pure offense, Ekblad is probably one of the best offensive defenseman on both these teams combined and he'll play well with Malyckyj carrying the offensive load on the 3rd pairing. Finally is the 4th pairing, the two best hitters remaining; Schultz and Onoprienko. This will re-inforce the hit everything that moves line making my 4th line hell to play against.

Goalies:
My starter was a rather obvious choice with The Ryan Jesster, he will obviously be starting 99% of my games and will be a stud between the pipes as always. Nex is the back up and yes, that's right; I did not pick Sven Andersson to be my backup, why? Simple. Verminski is the best up and coming goalie out there and he performs amazing in the sim. He may not be ready to play 44 games in a season and carry a team on a regular basis but he will in a few seasons. Since Jesster would start most of my games, I figured having Andersson sit on the bench would be a waste. Verminski will be more than capable of carrying the team for 6 games just as well, if not better than Andersson would. Calgary has a new Jesster in the system in the form of Mike Verminski and I want him on this team.
