After attending to almost all the combines last week (thanks to Prince George for posting it too late), Kein Monesti is getting ready for what will be the most important day of his young career. Tommorrow, junior teams will finally announce which players they are going to pick for the upcoming season. We had the chance to chat a bit with Monesti a couple of hours before the draft.

I : Thanks Kein for having us. How do you feel 24 hours before the draft ?

K : I’m very excited, I can’t wait for the draft to begin and finally know for which team I will play next season.

I : Do you have any favorite teams you would like to go to ?

K : I will play for any team that is not a problem with me. However, I have to admit Montreal and Detroit are the two teams that I like the most. I like Montreal because of my french roots obviously and because I know the city pretty well and Detroit because of the connection with my agent and SHL legend Kevin Lebacon. But I will be happy wherever I play.

I : Any player you would like to see on your team ?

K : There is so many good players coming in this draft like Salmon, Gauthier, Leroux, Stransky and so on but it would be awesome if I can play with my childhood friend Saoul Commeunebotte. We just complete each other so much and we played together for so many years that we know exactly how we play. It is doubtful we end up on the same team but with the draft you never know.

I : Any last words to all the juniors GMs listening before the draft ?

K : I plan to be super active and improve my game all season long. I’m a dedicated player that will always try to be the best player possible. My ultimate goal is to make the hall of fame of the SHL and I got Kevin Lebacon, who had a great career in the shl, as my agent and advisor. I’m in good hands. I’m also a good leader and a good presence in any locker room. Draft me and you won’t be disappointed.
