Last night, around 23:33, former allstar defenceman Patrick Pelletier passed away in his retreat house in the pacific. Pelletier was suffering from a brain cancer for a few years now and doctors didnt find a way to stop it. Funeral will be this week in Quebec at Rimouski's cathedral, his home town. Pelletier started his career with the Anaheim Outlaws. He played the preseason with allstar defenceman Jason Due but got traded to the Lethbridge Lions at the start of the season. He didnt realy prove anything during his junior season but the West Kendall Platoon saw the potential in this young athletic and disciplined defenceman. His defensive first mentality didnt attract the spotlight on him but he eventually developed into one of the most reliable defenceman on the SHL. His rookie season was one of his most important. He found a mentor in Sarmad Khan and he had the chance to play with many SHL legends like , Raey and Holmes to name a few. He started to show a great work ethic and helped the Platoonza win the Champion Cup. Strenghtened with this experience. Pelletier played a few season with the Platoon but finally got traded to the Edmonton Comets. He participate to transition of the team and played with many allstar like Armia and Reinhart to name a few. Pelletier always said that this was a very funny time in his career. But Patrick got traded again to a team he never tought he would like to play due to the rivalry he lived during his time with West Kendall. Surprisingly, he founded a very friendly and professional organisation. His new home gave him the chance to play a much bigger role and he quickly become a leader and a fans favorite in Toronto. Unfortunatly he never had the chance to win another Cup with a team that many consider like one of the best formation of all time. In addition to his all time league record of 3 give away in two season (including one season without any give away), Pelletier won one bronze medal with team World and 4 (or 5?) gold medals with team Canada during internationnal tournaments.
