Prpich has a relatively small amount of game tape available. He started out playing forward, but transitioned to goalie 3 years ago. When speaking to his coaches, they believe he has potential to play at the highest level, but needs a lot of work. From what I saw, calling him raw would be an understatement.

From what tape we have, the size is obvious. He plays like he is every inch of 6’3”. His movement in the crease is awkward at times, but he generally gets to where he needs to be. Keeping his pads on the ice can be a problem, allowing him to be beat low more than you would like. Long legs and inexperience mean he leaves his five-hole open frequently. Handles the puck worse than you’d like for someone who started out at forward, but that still only puts him slightly below average for goalies.

Overall, his positioning is fine. His glove and blocker are solid. Adam’s real strength is that the puck seems to stick to him when he gets a piece of it. Doesn’t give up a lot of rebounds, and when he does he often directs them into safer areas. His ability to scramble when making multiple saves in series is also very good. Has a knack for finding the puck when there are a lot of bodies right on top of him. Doesn’t get rattled when things aren’t going his way.

Bottom line: The framework for a very good player is there. He needs a bunch of time working with an experienced goaltending coach. Everything he does poorly can be fixed. Clean up his fundamentals, get him better with using his pads, and he could have a future.
