Old enough that a majority of the fan base has forgotten them but having made enough of an impression on the league to merit a card of their own. Less people will seek them out and care for them, leading to them being more rare then their more significant compatriots.

I believe defender Jasper Maximov's card will be very valuable. Since he is a rookie collecting massive TPE he will be in league for long time and as a offensive defender he will have lots of points in his career.

It's quite obvious that the most rare card in the league will have to go to the SMJHL absolute legend - the man, the myth himself - Gareth fucking Rush.
Who has ever made such a dramatic impact on the league without ever playing a game? The league will never be the same without him.
One of the top rare and valuable cards that are going to be hitting the market will be misprinted Teddy Park cards. Teddy's name change probably flew under the radar for a lot of fans of the SHL so that first run is probably going to have a few misprints. When Murphy hits his prime it is going to be worth a pretty penny.

In my opinion the rarest cards to get will be cards of retired players from the earlier days of the SHL or those who have records. I could see something like Esa Anrikkanen, Ron Mexico, Sergei Karpotsov, Jay McDonald, Ryan Jesster, etc. If there are special moment cards, rookie cards, or whatnot these will be incredibly rare.
I would love to have my own card which ends up being rare, but one can dream!

It's a huge state secret, but there was a Season 53 "Upcoming Stars" with Name Redacted's actual name on it. The warehouse they were stored in was destroyed in an "accidental" fire. A few firefighters took home some of the cards they found. Every one of those firefighters died; one of a heart attack despite being a strapping young lad, another of a car accident caused my mechanic failure despite being a Toyota Camry, and a last one fell off a cliff while mountaineering despite wearing hiking Uggs.
However, at least two of the cards were passed onto other people. I have managed to locate both people who I believe at least had the cards at one point, but I believe they are being watched by those who wish to keep the name from coming public. Fortunately, I have so far eluded detection so they are unaware I know about

I’m not much of a card buff, but some SHL players that had some historical highlights though not necessarily a name remembered through the ages might be good. My immediate first idea was Dean Colt and his “guarantee” ahead of the Season 23 Challenge Cup. Truly a great moment all should know about.

For today's players, I think it would be someone like Jack Kanoff or Hugh Jazz, because of the Venn diagram overlap of "Really good player who will be made more rare by the card companies" and "meme name even people outside of hockey will want to hoard for the laughs," like the way people steal "Mile 69" markers off the interstate.
The holy grail card would be a Jason Visser rookie card.

I think an exclusive and extremely valuable card that could come in the future would be for Adam Barron @
charlieconway . If Barron wins the Stevens trophy in successive seasons, which is very possible, he would be the first player to do it in a really REALLY long time on the SHL, and before regression too. Along with the absurd rate Charlie earns at, it's possible that once it's all said and done that we could see a career achievements, or maybe even rookie card for Barron be one of the hottest commodities we see in the SHL trading card market.
