S61 PT #5- Legacy

Prompt 2

My legacy in this league, I believe, will be pretty lacklustre. At least as a player. If you go off of the three players I’ve had so far. Only two have made the SHL (and the first of two wasn’t that impressive, played some backup games as a lower TPE goalie, then got signed as an IA backup I believe). My current player, Jarmo Kekalainen, is by far my best of the three and hasn’t shown me anything to think he could go down as anything worthy of a legacy. Two seasons in, he’s got about 55 points in basically two seasons of play. Unless he takes off in year number three, I don’t think he’ll be any sort of stud. I guess if I left a legacy, I’d like to be more about who I was as a member and teammate and not have it be related to my players. I’d like to be remembered as someone who was friendly, easy to play with and an all around good dude. I’ve tried my best to be that person on the teams I’ve been apart of so far, and plan on continuing that wether I have one more player or ten.

The legacy I hope tom fiddler to have in the SHL is being a great two way forward. Unfortunately, many skilled players are not recognized unless they spend their career on a stacked dynasty team, getting easy points against 3rd liners. Tom Fiddler's legacy will likely be one of a middling career on a dumpster team, but the latter half I hope to be filled with success. Moving forward, I dont expect point per game success, but I do want to be deployed as a first line center that contends with other teams' top lines, shutting them down and creating opportunities for the rest of my team. At the moment, i take great pride in having a solid Take-away to Give-away ratio, also considering the fact that my corsi is positive, meaning I have fewer opportunities for take-aways, but still manage to get enough of them to eclipse my give-aways. Lastly, I want my legacy to be a long one, and I want to be known as the guy who held out so he could create for S69.

This reminds me of the previous prompt with the pills, where I did not take the pill. Once again I would not take the pill with Kondos. I am currently in my 4th season of the SHL, and hoping to make the hall of fame for the first time with one of my players. Lets start by taking a look at the team awards that have been accomplished so far. Not this it is worth much, but in my final season of junior we won the 4 star cup. The cup winning did not stop there, in my second season of the SHL we won the challenge cup which was big, and hopefully pulls some weight compared to the four star. When looking at individual words, I have one minor award in my last season of World Junior play where I won MVP. However, the prized award to this point is my Jesster award for rookie of the year. Playing on Texas we have quite a bit of depth so points are usually spread across all three lines. I hope to win another Challenge cup and hopefully make a case for some individual award noms down the road.

First of all, who is this strange dude and why does he keep showing up offering me mysterious pills and drinks? I need to hire some damn security or something for my house. Anyways, I honestly don't think I would take the pill. For me, while I really want to work towards a hall of fame career, half the fun in my opinion is the journey. Leaving a solid legacy is rewarding because you worked hard for it, not because some freak gave you an orange fanta and you magically made it in. Although he is still up for nomination, I think Jon Toner will narrowly miss out on the hall, which was a big disappointment for me. I believe that if it were not for the switch to FHM Toner likely would have at least come close to hitting 600 points as a defenseman, but FHM turned him into a bit of a defensive defenseman which was not intended. I'm hoping that Blanchet will fill that void for me, but I want it to be earned, not given.

PROMPT 2: Written Task: What legacy do you see yourself creating in the SHL? Hall of Fame? Amazing third liner? Shitty third liner? GM of a cup team? Juniors GM who helped newbies create amazing players? Go crazy posturing your legacy, or at least some wishful thinking of how your retirement post will be received. (150+ words)
Of course I would love to make the Hall of Fame someday, but I think my legacy is going to be a LOT smaller. I have not been the greatest member of the league in terms of dedication. Honestly, it comes and goes in waves. That said, I hope my legacy will be with the few amazing people that I have been fortunate enough to call teammates. I hope that when I retire and am long gone that they will remember FR Finn-Rhys as being just a really good dude and a teammate that always tried to put the needs of the team about his own. Hopefully my willingness to block shots (really the only stat that I genuinely give a shit about) made at least a little bit of a difference to helping the team. Even personal accolades come second to helping the team in whatever way I can to win another Cup. If that can be my legacy then I would count my career as a success.

Prompt 2

I don't think I have anything special in mind, statistically for my player when he reaches the end of his career. I figure there's so sense stressing over something that I really have a very small amount of control over. All I can do is try to earn as much TPE as I can, and see what happens. What I'm more concerned about is being remembered as a good teammate, and fun person to be around in the locker room. Most of my big moments so far in the league have come from my friends and teammates. Even when big things were happening during a SIM, I was more excited and happy to share it with my team more than what my players stat line was. While sure, it would be nice to be remembered as an absolute killer on the ice, at the end of the day I just wanna hang with my buds.

For Zlatan Ibrahimovic Jr., his legacy is just playing the best hockey game he can. Based off his stats alone, there is not much that is captivating to the eyes of the audience. Stats-wise, he is basically an average joe. He has not earned many points and thus it will be hard to evaluate his performance as a defenseman. But what he doesn't have stats-wise, he has it through his presence. His presence is very noticeable and everyone around him starts to play a lot better. We are not sure if it is because he is the infamous Zlatan's son or just because of his intimidating stature. Zlatan Ibrahimovic Jr., also has a way with words and is able to get the best out of every player. He knows what to say at the right time to make sure you play at your best. In his career, Zlatan has only won one challenge cup and that was with the Hamilton Steelhawks. To this date, he does not believe he will be in the hall of fame but he knows he went and gave it his all in every game he has played. He has become a defensive monster for the Patriotes and will continue to do so. Sometimes teams need a presence like Zlatan to ensure the rest of the team plays their best.

I'm going with prompt number 2 for this week. I don't ever see myself managing a team, whether in the SMJHL or the SHL. Those jobs require devoting a lot of time, being familiar with the sim engine and being charismatic/popular. I'm probably the least qualified user for a management spot. As for my current player, Marco Barengrub, I don't expect him to hear one day his name in the Hall of Fame. You see even though he is still in juniors the way I want to build him is not something that will help his case. I'm going for a defensive center playing on a third line most of his career. Offensive numbers will be low and it pretty much his the main factor for a forward to make it in the Hall. So yeah, an amazing third line player is what I'm aiming for. I'm more focused on winning cups than individual hardware.

Prompt 2- I mean right now may be the high point of my career. Second line defense. I’m only on the second pair because, I don’t know, I guess they wanted to spread out the talent? I don’t get any power play time. I do get some short handed minutes but usually i am the one that’s in the penalty box. You know i am not one of the top players in the league. But on the other hand, I am the alternate captain for the Texas Renegades. I did win a challenge cup and a four star cup. I would definitely say my career is a success. Much more than my brothers. The only thing he has over me he was a captain in the SHL. So you ask how I want my legacy? Twenty years from now, when people are discussing on whatever version of the internet they have, who the best renegades defensemen were, someone says my name. Everyone will call them a fucking idiot or dumb or virgin or whatever, but someone said my name.

prompt 2
Who wouldn't want a guaranteed spot in the hall of fame? I will take that drink. So if this means I can choose anything now, here's what my career would be like. To start off, I would like to win a 4 star cup and wjc gold in juniors in order to have a shot at joining the 4 gold club. Then I would like to help build a team that can be considered an shl dynasty, win some challenge cups, perhaps 4 or 5, all with one team. I would also like 5 iihf golds, I really need just 1 but 5 seems like a cool number, so 5 iihf golds. Individual award aren't as important but I'd like to lead the league in points at least once and win playoff mvp in one of those 5 cup runs. I'd also like to be really consistent and score over a point per game every season, eventually becoming the #1 all-time point scorer for my team and in the league. That would be nice. Oh, and I would also like to set a record, most points in a season for example. So this is what my career would be like if I take that drink.

PREVIOUS PLAYER STATISTICS

Prompt 1: Conversely I refuse to take the pill and tell this weird dude to gtfo of my bedroom. I'd tell him after creating probably the greatest legacy in league history with my previous character Esa Anrikkanen the Player/GM, most goals and points of all-time, a record tying 5 cups with a single player, first player to reach 2ktpe, first player to score 400 goals, first and only player to score 500 goals, has the smjhl ROTY trophy named after him, won the most cups by a gm with 6, first gm to win 5 and 6 cups, only gm to ever complete a reverse sweep in the cup finals, not once but twice, winner of 4 game 7 cup finals, 35 seasons and 33 playoffs as a GM, 9 cup finals, 1000+ wins as a GM and 1000+ points as a player, 1st ballot hall of famer as both a player and a GM, not to mention creating a lasting chicken parm legend around my team that exists to this day. I know a thing or two about creating a legacy. I don't need this guys help so I would nicely ask him to leave, if he didn't leave on his own I would slash him in the knees making him fall to the ground then I would put my stick on his throat and drag him down the stairs and out of my house. Granted Parmborg will not have the legacy that Anrikkanen did as a player and I'm not as active as I once was, but Parmborg did reach 2k+ tpe, scored a lot of points, was a 1st overall J pick and has an award named after him in Maine/Halifax so he's on track to have a great career even without all the records.
