S79 PT #5: Analytical Comments Due: Sunday, November 17th @ 11:59 PM PST

Quote:Written Option 1:Your team’s local broadcasting station’s analyst desk has invited your player to talk about themselves as well as their team’s upcoming playoff matchup and the best way to win. If your player hasn’t made the playoffs, they instead invite you to talk about your player’s performance this season and how your team can improve next season. What do you tell the desk about your team’s current match up? What do you tell the desk about your own player’s performance? How is your player while on the desk? Are they a nervous wreck or are they cracking jokes and quips with expert charisma?

The Atlanta Inferno are playing the Philadelphia Forge in the Eastern Conference Finals.

First, Jae-ik makes note of how happy he is to be to the conference finals for the first time in his career. He says that he believes that the team has really turned the corner, with upcoming seasons set to be even better with all the young talent coming through the pipeline.

He makes note of the importance of his own play, as he’s a top-6 center on the team. He knows he needs to be good on both sides of the puck, and admits that his defensive play has slipped in the last season or two, especially since defense was so important to his game in junior.

Jae-ik speaks on the wealth of talent at Philadelphia’s disposal, with Gnabe Dabson and Tony Soprano at 1 and 3 in playoff scoring, respectively.

I think Jae-ik would be OK with being on television, as he’s been a highly-regarded player throughout his career and has had plenty of chances to gain experience with television experiences.

Ubba Lodbrok, center for the Philadelphia Forge of the SImulation Hockey League, and former player for the Anchorage Armada of the Simulation Major Junior Hockey League, and current representative of the Finnish National Team, was invited by John LaLiberte and Jordan Balboa to come on their show to talk about the Philadelphia Forge's pre-game show Hammer Time. Ubba was peppered with questions left and right about the season. Ubba Lodbrok, being the hockey player he is, gave the most non-commital hockey answers possible. "We had to fight for every point we earned" "Doesn't matter when in the season, a point is a point" "Our power play struggled at times, but if we can get pucks deep and get shots on the net good things happen" "Hockey is a simple game made complicated by humans". Once the conversation started to veer into the post season though, Ubba was honest about this own and his team's performance in the first round. "We sucked. We didn't play well enough to make it easier on ourselves, Manhattan was less than .500 this season, we should have cruised through that first round, but we didn't. Maybe it gave us enough drive to prove that we are the first seed and do deserve to be in the ECF against Atlanta. Who is going to be a tough opponent after they've only lost two games this playoffs. But we stay focused, we play our game and win one game at a time, one period at a time, one shift at a time, one puck battle at a time."

Assuming that this happened, I think Rasmus would be feeling quietly confident. It's not really part of his culture or upbringing to be on the radio boasting about how well he feels about his team's chances to win their first round matchup, but he's certainly not going to be on the radio showing weakness or sounding like he's stressed about the upcoming result. The reality of hockey is that it's a random sport where you only have so much control over the result, and he recognizes this so you're also asking to make a fool of yourself if you get a bit too excited about your chickens before they hatch. He'd go on, give a good measured recap about how Los Angeles' season went and where there are a couple areas that they feel that they can improve upon, before talking a bit about their opponent and what they need to do against them to make sure that they take care of business.

option 2:
Elly would accept the invitation and make sure it is known that she knows very little about the sport. perhaps they selected Elly to sabotage her by making her look bad as commentator, or perhaps it was an oversight, or even fully intentional. Elly would research a bit about the sport during the 12 hour period and probably turn down the money as well but still offer to commentate. Elly woudn't want to make a food of herself but also feels like she shouldn't have much to worry about. she would research enough but wouldn't try cramming, as that would probably look worse in her mind. When the day arrives Elly would happily appear and just have a good time. She is a charismatic kitty and makes the time fun and energetic, and even a tad comedic accidentally throwing in some hockey terms in place of another sports terms. She comes out of it with everyone having a great time having her on, and learning a lot as she goes. It is also a great opportunity for the other commentators to take a teaching role and they and Elly teach each other and the fans a little bit about each sport.

Option 1

Hip Hurts was brought in to break down the 6 game loss in the playoffs against Maine. He wasn't too eager to talk about the series since it was a particularly tough outcome, but was still able to breakdown the matchup. He thought the team battled hard especially because he knows the teams were mismatched; the Timber came into playoffs with a top 5 offense and defense in terms of TPE, and the 3rd highest TPE overall. Nevada on the other hand was a bottom 3 team in both offense and defense TPE, ranking dead last overall as well, and without a single player above 350 TPE on the roster. Hurts mentioned how the NBB game plan revolved around their physical D core, which had the 1st, 3rd, and 4th place hit leaders among SMJHL defensemen this season. And that they more or less knew the only way they were going to win this one was with a generational playoff performance from their goalie Suzuki. For the first two games it looked like it could happen, with the goalie posting a 10 GSAA in just 2 games. But then reality set in and the Timber outscored Nevada 31-4 in the following 4 games to move on.

If Jeremy were invited to be a guest commentator, then he would most definitely start off by .. well, not studying at all. He wouldn't care too much about his preparation, because while he greatly enjoys playing hockey, it isn't his favorite thing to watch, let alone be a part of talking about. He mostly slides on the ice, trying to get the puck from anyone else, trying to figure out what the actual plays are has never been his strong suit. Jeremy wouldn't spend any time preparing, and would instead, just kind of bat his paws at the monitors that would be placed in front of him, hoping throughout the night that he would be able to get the puck in his little paws. When that inevitably doesn't work, Jeremy would grow so frustrated, he probably ends up starting to eat the other commentators, or the desk and camera crews that are around the area. Ultimately, it would end so poorly, he would not be invited back.

Prompt 1

Going into the conference finals, the Quebec City Citadelles are in for a tough matchup against the Anchorage Armada, who are coming off an upset victory over the Newfoundland Berserkers. The key to the Citadelles' victory in this series will be patience, as the Armada play a relatively low event style of hockey with tight defensive formations who can seemingly create turnovers at will, and a punishing counterattack with a great breakout. One of the key players for the Citadelles to look to shut down is Elaina Beneski, who was one of the league's premier goal scorers this season, though it won't be easy with her physical style of play, also leading the team in hits this season. For the Citadelles to have the best chance at winning this series, they need to try to get through it as quick and dirty as possible, as the Armada are no strangers to a battle of attrition, in fact they seem to thrive the longer a series goes on.

While some were excited to get Jarrod Lakemore on the desk, there were others who were a bit skeptical that Lakemore would be forthcoming, entertaining, or particularly interesting in his role. Lakemore's interactions with the press had generally been stoic and unassuming, as he offered old platitudes as responses to virtually every question, never showing up his teammates or coaches, never offering anything even approaching offensive or inflammatory. When asked about Buffalo's upcoming series with Toronto, Lakemore continued this trend, merely offering, "Toronto is a strong, well-coached team, and we'll need to be at our best if we want to move further in the playoffs." When asked about specific game plans against Toronto, Lakemore had this insight, "We've spent a lot of time going over the film. I trust our coaches to come up with a plan to slow them down, and it's on us as players to execute that plan." When asked about Toronto C Aumy Junior II, a player he had mentored briefly as a WJC assistant, he only had this to say, "Aumy is a great player and we'll have our hands full trying to keep him off the score sheet." It seems unlikely Lakemore will be asked to join the analyst desk in the future. (216 words)

Wizard takes the desk and the one thing he is asked is how the team could improve for next year and how he can improve his own gameplay. While the dynamic went really well this season there are still places of improvement where the offense after more time together will be able to develop a well solidified bond. The main thing Wizard wants to improve is Calgarys efficiency on offense, the first line had an excellent season for his first season with them but he wants to continue to develop that in order to make this team championship caliber as lets be honest he wasn't efficient at all himself. Then something else he wants to personally improve on is his giveaways. Wizard was really bad with giveaways this season often costing his team possession, if Wizard is able to convert these giveaways into takeaways even he can at least put his defense in a better position. The defense doesnt exactly love all of Wizards giveaways.

due to the love of the thunderdome and sim drama across all sim leagues, tampa bay barracuda defenseman rip thunderdome 2013-2023 has gained a sort of cult following, extending to fans outside of the hockey world. thousands of fans wanting to pay homage to the thunderdome support rip thunderdome in his quest to win the challenge cup, even if they do not even watch hockey. a surprisingly large number of fans from the international simulation football league have petitioned for rip thunderdome to make an appearance on the isfl broadcast by joining as a color commentator for a stream. this was extremely flattering for rip thunderdome, as before this, he did not realize the extent of his influence over sim sports fndom. while he does not know much about football, rip thunderdome knew he had to take this opportunity. rip thunderdome used this platform to preach the good word of the thunderdome and convert new members to the church of the thunderdome

Former USA Fed Head, Carolina Kraken Co-GM, Tampa Bay Barracuda GM

Johnny FourStar was very excited to learn that he would be able to break into the world of color commentary after painstaking attempts to break into the industry. It wasn't until recently that Johnny learned he wouldn't be calling a Singaporean hockey game, but a game of cricket!

Cricket is not something Johnny is very familiar with. Johnny does know that a lot of people watch it. With the SHL playoffs ongoing, Johnny had no choice but to choose to wing it. I mean, all sports are sort of the same, right? There are opposing players or teams going against each other. Each player is playing hard, and winning at the highest level usually comes down to who works the hardest. Plus momentum is always important in games. Who does that momentum favor? What is the story of the game? That's what JOHNNY FourStar asks. And he does not need to know minute details like the game or the rules to be able to be a very good storyteller and color commentator, for any sport you can think of.

Written Option 2:

I'm taking the money, no questions asked. Not gonna clarify if they made a mistake on who they thought they were inviting to be a part of this. I'm signing on as soon as humanly possible. I'm getting myself a ride to the place so I can study in the car, plane, submarine, whatever vehicle I'm taking to this event. The way there I'll skim the wikipedia article on the sport to try to get the gist of the rules, then I'll watch some videos on the internet with the announcers just screaming. We're talking all the "best calls of the last 20 years" types of videos and I'm going to study the tones and inflections of these guys. I'm gonna do my absolute best to accurately mimic these guys so that I can give off a similar vibe during the action. I'll probably rely on reading numbers and names on jerseys, assuming they wear them, because I am not wasting one valuable second on something as useless as the players of the sport. I'm gonna give it my absolute all to parrot announcers and fit right in, then leave with my cash.
