Can we please get rid of PGS all together?

I know it's ur baby c but seriously nobody reads them. I shared this idea with the SMJHL team because I think that there are some seriously better ways to go about giving rookies a jump start. We should also look at eliminating it for SHL players (send downs are still ok) as it prevents rookies & send downs from gaining a little bit on players before their draft years as everybody is eligible to do PGS which is basically against the point of having PGS as a little way to get ahead for SMJHL players in the first place.

Anywho, here's my idea. Replacing PGS with writing media that will revitalize the SMJHL media board all together.

- Write a draft review for the SMJHL (500 words min / 3 TPE)
- Start a rivalry with another player or team (500 words min / 3 TPE) (can be a joint article)
- Playoff Preview (500 word min / 3 TPE)
- etc, etc.

Obviously it will still be capped at 15, and that way it encourages media articles and they can also use the money they get from the articles to train their players.

Sounds better imo. Replacing PGS with something that's more involved with other people which would make other people want to actually read them, and still be directly involved with what's happening in the sim.

I know it's my baby and I honestly agree, not many people read PGS. The Game of the Week threads are my last ditch effort to make them relevant. 4 games go up a week, and everyone doing PGS feeds off that one game. This might result in more actual discussion, but probably won't.

The one thing I am worried about, though, is that this is starting to sound a heck of a lot like the VHL, and if you want a league where you're getting TPE from articles instead of money, go there. I do both because I like the diversity.

Radical idea: abolish PTs altogether, make this a purely cash league, increase the TPE amount you can buy every week in training to something like 10, and force people to write media. Discount presser money by a shit ton, make 30 minute podcasts worth about 50% of what it costs to max train, make 1000 words pay out 50% of max training. Forces people to need contract money or actually write media, gives you free reign to write about whatever you want, but doesn't restrict you to one article a week like the VHL or SBA feels like at times.

The Training options would look something like this:
1 TPE -> $100K
3 TPE -> $500K
5 TPE -> $1000K = $1M
8 TPE -> $1500K = $1.75M
10 TPE -> $2500K = $2.5M

Lets casuals still get 7 TPE/week with AC, active users get 12 TPE/week. IDK, those are rough starter numbers. Also, something about graphics getting a revamp with the cost.

I'd think that'd feel really bad for casuals, and actives who aren't great at writing articles.

I can do PTs that have some prompting, and write a fair bit of interesting material for them in my limited experience, but it's really difficult for me to pull an idea for an article out of nowhere. When I do, they tend to be pretty short.

As things stand now, I racked up enough money from what I pulled together during the prospect media bonus week to last my rookie season, but I'm a bit worried about making enough money to pay for training and equipment once I hit the SHL. This suggestion would make that worse.

ok that is a lil too radical for my liking c

I don't think it's much like VHL at all. It's just for send downs and rookies, and you use the money from that to train for additional TPE. It's really a 2 bird 1 stone issues that can help rookies with a lack of income.

Just my $0.02 i'm throwing around.

You'll be making more once you hit the SHL. Contract money, job pay, etc. Active members find a way, rest assured.

And I get why prompts help. Maybe we go with a Media Director that posts a Theme of the Week similar to PT prompts. There's also room for people to write true pre-game matchup reviews and post-game analysis that are interesting and is in the media area.

Also, did a quick polynomial trendline with the current training values. If we want, this could be the set of options for training:

1 TPE -> $100K
2 TPE -> $300K
3 TPE -> $500K
4 TPE -> $750K
5 TPE -> $1000K = $1M
6 TPE -> $1300K = $1.3M
7 TPE -> $1600K = $1.6M
8 TPE -> $2000K = $2M
9 TPE -> $2300K = $2.3M
10 TPE -> $2700K = $2.7M

Allows a bit more freedom for training, even if we don't switch to a cash league.

When doing predictions, can you make sure that the deadline matches up with when the actual sim is?

I saw Monday and put the prediction in the backburner, then saw it was actually based on the sim yesterday.

Alonzo Garbanzo Final Tallies (Among Defensemen):
2nd in Goals (208), All-Time Assists Leader (765)*, All-Time Points Leader (973), 3rd in Hits (2587), All-Time Blocked Shots Leader (1882)*
*All-Time Leader Among All Skaters

Yeah, sorry, I must have miscounted, I didn't realise the games I'd picked had already simmed until someone else pointed it out, I'll try not to let it happen again.

So the season is over and I'm at 24/40 capped having done all the PTs. This is definitely not spurring activity.

I think they missed some PT's or something, because every year we're told they will be better and we seem to fall short.
