5. (S26) LW (Portland Admirals) Ignant Ogorodnikov || New Entry

Grade: 73/80 || Average: 9.13
Past Seasons: None

At number 5 is a player who many may be surprised to see on this list. For the first time, we see a player make it on the list without having played a single SHL game, and this player has made it to the top-10 immediately! What makes him one of the top players on this list? He started out in the SMJHL with respectable stats, but he has demonstrated the intangibles and will to win that very few players even in the SHL demonstrate. He is headed for a long and prosperous career, and his talent shown already makes him an obvious top-10 choice.

Oh shit yeah, how'd I miss that one?!

With what Kez and PB were saying, I'd venture to say that people viewed Morley's down year differently. Although giving him a 10 after a season like that is, erm, ill-advised.

Generational talent imo, clearly I am the only one that thinks so though

While I understand that over the last three seasons he's been in the top 10, and he will most likely end up in the hall of fame, to say he's a generational talent based on his latest performance doesn't seem right to me.

I agree with the 8's FWIW

Also, quick note, we were only allowed to pick a maximum of 6 players who we rated and defined as 10/10, or generational talents

My selections here were:

Prikulis
Onoprienko
Salmon
McDavid

Morley
Scherbluk

These last 2 are the arguable ones imo, but both of them have been for seasons 2 of the best players in the game, they were rated both in top 3 last season and while they both had off years, I also could not see how anyone else in the league could replace them from that position - yet

EDIT - kinda like how Crosby is *still* a generational talent even though he is sucking right now

Jaromir Jagr is a generational talent, but he's not a 10/10 right now.
Although I do agree with you that one off season shouldn't drop him down to a 6

The standard I placed on number 10 was consistency. Morley had a down year which affects the consistency aspect of it.

I don't even think I put down 6 "generational" talents.

Alonzo Garbanzo Final Tallies (Among Defensemen):
2nd in Goals (208), All-Time Assists Leader (765)*, All-Time Points Leader (973), 3rd in Hits (2587), All-Time Blocked Shots Leader (1882)*
*All-Time Leader Among All Skaters

I didn't either. For me, they had to be "generational" and also at the top of their game. If they were what I'd consider a "generational" talent with a bad year I might rank them at the top for an all-time list, but not for this season.

Yeahthat

As for my 10/10 I gave them to:

Weekes
Ono
Salmon
Pedersen
Bottas
Stryker (51, 46 & 52 points seasons in the last 3)

but Prikulis could have also got a 10.

RIP Mac & 701

Last season was an anomaly for Morley, I had bounced him around between some different lines the first part of the season. Trying to see if he could help boost other lines and it didn't work. Once we moved him back and he's playing first line center he'll be back to normal imo. The guy had like 6 season straight of 20+ goals that broke last season which is my fault.
