1. Fan Appreciation (+2 TPE)

The Anchorage Armada have great fans, there’s no denying that and it is time to reward them for their continued support. That’s why at this season’s home opener all fans that attend the game will receive their very own signature Armada hat. Each hat will feature a foam battleship atop of a 100% cotton ball cap style hat, and it will also feature a spinning propeller fixed to the rear of the foam ship that spins as the fan walks. With an arena full of these foam ships, it will truly feel like there is an armada ready to take battle to start the new season.

9. What’s in a name? (+4 TPE)

There are many great names in the SHL, however, Chuck has viewed this as the perfect opportunity to explain the origins of his name. Similarly to most problems we all face on a day to day basis, his name is the result of a government error. His entire family shares the surname of “Chucky” and his mother, a fan of alliteration and patterns decided early on that her son would be “Chuck Chucky”. The problem though you see, is that his mother has bad handwriting and when the birth certificate was signed, it was hardly distinguishable. When the nurses reviewed the document they did not notice that there was an issue with the spelling and entered it into the system as “Chuck Chunky”. Chuck progressed through his first couple of years of life without anyone realizing this mistake until it was time for him to register for school and when he was signed up as “Chuck Chucky” the school could not find a record of his existence. When paired with his SSN the mistake was then realized.

That is the story that I am going with but if you want the “real” answer, during his player creation. Someone, not naming names, may have accidentally pressed the wrong letter and did not review prior to submitting. He will live his life and hopefully be inscribed into the cup someday using his legal name, “Chuck Chunky”.

12. On the Radar (+2 TPE)

Chuck Chunky is an all around contributor that will be an offensive and defensive addition to any SHL team that decides to draft him. This is proven by his top offensive and defensive contributions during his rookie season in the SMJHL with the Armada. After putting up 55 points his rookie season he is looking to hone in some of his defensive skills to help Anchorage push further in the playoffs next season. Furthermore, on top of refining his defensive abilities he also recognizes the importance of his physical attributes and plans to return for his second season stronger, faster, and more agile.

14. R&R (+2 TPE)

Chuck is excited to spend some offseason time with friends and family after a busy rookie season in the SMJHL. He is going to head to Upstate NY to visit his family and then travel around a bit to get a taste of warmer weather down south. Once he’s gotten the fun stuff out of the way he plans to head back to Anchorage to get back to training and be prepared for the next season. During this time he also hopes to get more connected with his Armada teammates and get around the town to explore a bit since his arrival was pretty busy getting ready for the season to start back in the fall.

16. Goals (+3 TPE)

Chuck has always been pretty relaxed in terms of goals. His main goal has always been to make it to the SHL and that will hopefully be fulfilled soon during the next draft. Beyond that though he has always just prioritized being a key asset to any team he has been a part of, and will always be happy so long as he is able to contribute to his teams success.

He does realize that there will be a life beyond hockey someday and wants to start thinking about the future, so he may hop on a job opportunity if it presents itself in order to refine some of his skills outside of hockey. He knows that it’s always important to have a back up plan!

Overall, he also would like to be a positive contributor to his community whether that remains Anchorage or anywhere else in the future. At the end of the day he is playing a sport for his career and wants to be bigger than that.

Team Prompt #3 - Secret Plans - +10 (520 words)

In the Kelowna Knights locker room, a secret council convenes, plotting and scheming like the villains in a great adventure. But this is no ordinary council, and their journey is not toward conquest – no, no… this council meets to discuss plans of mischief. So, come along with us as we delve deeper into the recesses of our collective imagination, where our dreams lurk and are about to take flight.

Behold, Operation Puck Drop! A masterstroke of deception where under the cover of darkness, while our opponents sleep, our Knights will embark on a mission to tamper with the very essence of the game itself- the puck. But fear not, for this is no act of sabotage; rather, it is a playful tweak to keep our opponents on their toes. We will freeze the pucks overnight, turning them into slippery projectiles that only our Knights will know to control. We will laugh in the faces of our opponents as they struggle to pass or shoot, and we will delightfully perform skilled moves with ease in front of our opponents – rocking them to their very core.

But the mischief does not end there, oh no. Enter Operation Penalty Box Party! Our endeavor to turn adversity into celebration because for too long, the penalty box has been a place of solitude and quite frankly – contemplation. A purgatory for the wayward souls of the game. But not anymore. The Knights have decreed that henceforth, the penalty box shall be a haven of joy with disco lights and music pulsating through the air, players will find comfort in the rhythm of the dance, turning their time-out into a time of party rocking (no need to say sorry for party rocking because who says punishment can't be fun?).

Now onto the next, Operation Mascot Mayhem! Brilliance disguised as folly. Every team worth its salt has a mascot, but none quite like the Knights'. For their mascot is not merely a mascot - it is a trickster in disguise. Dressed in the guise of a harmless Knight, it roams the arena squirting water guns at opposing players and swapping the referee's whistle for a kazoo, the mascot will be our force to be reckoned with and stand as a symbol of our unstoppable spirit.

But wait, for there is more- Operation Spy on the Fly! A mission to gather intelligence from the shadows and armed with nothing but binoculars and a healthy dose of stealth, the Knights' will designate spies to infiltrate our opponents ranks, gathering information from them with the skill of seasoned agent. From covert reconnaissance to surveillance, we will spare no effort in our quest for victory. For in our world, knowledge is power, and the Knights will stop at nothing to gain the upper hand.

Will our schemes pay off in the end? Will our operations lead us to glory? Only time will tell. But one thing is certain- win or lose, the Kelowna Knights will play the game with passion, creativity, and a healthy dose of mischief. For that is the way of the Kelowna Knights - and long may it continue.

2. Looking Towards the Future
As we near the end of S75, the SMJHL draft will be happening soon. Going into next season, what are your team's biggest needs and areas of strength? Do any holes need to be filled with call-ups? Do you have a position that is incredibly stacked? Give us all an overview of your team, from top to bottom.

The biggest need for the ELK is offence! The ELK struggled to score goals this season and it was arguably their downfall. The team could not score to save their life. Now some of that may be the system. However, the ELK had a lot of top defence, and played a pretty defensive game. But you'd hope that the strong defensive play would leave to more of an offensive attack. But that did not happen. Heading into next season the Elk will lose some forward players that they will need to fill holes with. However, the young core will move up into the bigger roles, so they really just need young players to fill some depth roles. There will also be 1-2 or defence spots that will be left open that can be addressed by just added some more depth pieces. On the offensive side of the puck this season the ELK played very physical, and that is even for some of their playoffs that did not have physical stats. So that is one thing the team will need to look at. Letting the skilled players play more skilled, and the physical players play more physical. If the team is drafting new targets I think they will need to look at more skilled players, players that have better passing, better shooting, better hockey IQ. On the back end of the team, the team should focus on drafting some defensive players who are two players, or offensive minded that look to make that first pass.

Ultimately for the Elk they will need to address their system play to be on the offensive side of the puck. They played a very conservative brand of hockey and they will need to look at playing a more aggressive puck attacking brand of hockey. They will need to add players who can skate, and be fast to the puck.

4. Funtimes
You have been designated as the team's official Fun Director! Now, everyone is looking for some sort of fun activity where you all can spend an afternoon or day to chill, hang out and build some team spirit. Especially after a long and stressful season, what are your plans to ensure everyone has a great time?

After a long season the team is not looking for just a fun afternoon or day, they are looking for a fun week or two to let loose and relax! The week would start with staying in Regina, we would spend one day attending the annual fried chicken conference where local cooks and chains would have a competition for the best fried chicken, and best chicken strips. Which obviously included all the different dips. After a day full of eating, the next day would be followed by a day full of drinking as we would attend the Regina Craft Brewery convention. We would try different craft brews and just enjoy the event, truly being able to kick our feet back.

We would then have 1 day to recover before boarding our flight to sunny Cancun Mexico! We would travel down to Cancun and stay in the hotel zone, maybe at Riu Palace Las Americas! This location features great beaches, great food, great atmosphere and even a night live for those that are looking to stay up a little later. Everyone on the team deserves a sunny vacation spot and there is no better spot then Cancun! While in Mexico we would most likely take a couple excisions, one on a catamaran for sure, enjoying a day on the season and scuba diving in the ocean and coral reefs. The next day we might do an ATV adventure where we get to explore some of the forest areas of Mexico, before stopping at a cenote and getting to swim within the cenote! I think the team would really be able to bond over this trip, only brining us closer before we head into the next season!

If you weren't playing for your current team, which team would you most like to be playing for in the playoffs.  Explain why you chose that team and how you think you'd slot into their roster.  Would your player make a big impact on the team?  Would you improve their chances of winning a cup?

If I was not playing for the Regina Elk which team would I be playing for is a great question. I think personally I would want to play for the Carolina Kraken. Now this nothing against Quebec, but look at their team, they are stacked they do not need any more help in the playoffs. I like playing for the underdog, which in this series is the Kraken. I also feel like I like the branding of the Kraken better as well. When looking at the roster make up I also know more people in the Kraken roster so it would be a more natural fit if I was flipping teams.

1. During season 75, the team management tasked each of its players to come up with a giveaway item for Fan Appreciation night. When it was Will Nuck's turn to come up with his own unique giveaway, he really hit it out of the park! The rookie from Germany came up with the brilliant idea of gifting each of the fans with their own sapling to take home and plant. The really cool part of this giveaway is that their were many different varieties of trees offered up, everything from fruit trees like cherry and apple. To trees like cedar and birch. The fans seemed to really enjoy their new gifts and many took home more then one each. Not only does this give back to the fans who are there cheering every game, it also gives them a life long reminder of the hard work the team puts in every day to bring them quality hockey to watch. It will be great to see these fans and their children, not only benefitting from the many different environmental benefits trees offer us. It will be a living reminder of their support for the Timber organization. The players will move on but the trees will last for decades.

With season 76 on the horizon, the brass in Maine are going to be looking to the future of the team. They will be eyeing any problem individuals that may need to be traded off, or players on other teams that they may desire to bring in. Most importantly though, they will be looking at the rookie draft to help bolster their team and keep it competitive long into the future. With very few glaring holes in the system the Timber will mostly be looking to restock on young talent and replacing any players they may have lost due to them being called up to their respected SHL teams. The one immediate hole the management should be looking at though is finding an able body to help man the crease come next season. With the expected call up of starting goalie Shotty McStopper, rookie tender Timo Leppanen will be poised to take his spot between the pipes as the starting goaltender in Maine. This could also be a position that management might look to make a trade for and help Leppanen with some of his duties in net. I wouldnt be surprised to see Main go out and try to grab one key player in each of the positions as we know that the expansion draft is on the horizon and will only hurt the depth of this powerhouse. We also know that there will be players from both forward and defensive groups getting the call ups to their respected clubs. I would expect to see the top 2 defensemen be gone next season, so that opens up 2 players right there who need replacing immediately. The forward group will also see graduations from its numbers. We wont know for a while yet but the Maine Timer will look like a much different team come puck drop next season.

Will Nuck has a top secret plan to get in top shape this off season and hes almost ready to put it into action. He plans on starting his days drinking a dozen raw eggs, after that he will be running a 10km jaunt down to his favorite lake. He will spend the next 4-6 hours swimming around the lake and upstream on one of its many rivers. Afterwards he will make the return run back home for a mighty dinner of steak and potatoes. After a good meal and a ice shower, he spends the rest of his evening lounging in the hot tub before heading to bed.

12. On the Radar

Depending on who you ask, after being selected with the 22nd pick in the S75 SMJHL draft, Matviy Cajabi either slid or was drafted too early. He was a bit of an unknown, coming from a nation that doesn't provide a bevy of pro hockey talent and not much in the way of a scouting profile on him other than he was "fast". Suffice to say, nobody will be sleeping on him this time around at the S76 SHL Entry Draft.
While his numbers might not jump off the page at first glance, there are a few things to take in account. The Armada had an abundance of skilled forwards available to them this season, and relied upon them heavily. This meant that Cajabi was not deployed with regularity. In fact, of all skaters on the roster, he ranked last on the team with 15:58 TOI with virtually no time on special teams (0:02 PPTOI, 0:09 SHTOI). Now, this shouldn't be a reflection on the player, but rather on what management and coaching felt gave the Armada their best chance at winning games.
In spite of ice time, or lack thereof, Cajabi still managed to post decent offensive numbers. While no slouch as a shooter, like most young players looking to find their place, he took on more of a playmaking mentality in his first season. This saw him finish the season with a stat line of 15-34-49 in 66 games for .74ppg. When comparing against similar players in their draft seasons, the numbers are respectable.
What should have teams excited though, in this day and age of analytics, are his advanced stats. With a CF% of 55% and 101.2 PDO, Cajabi has shown that he's an asset to his team when he's on the ice. Those numbers did drop a bit during the playoffs, but the play of the entire Armada roster dropped so it isn't all that surprising.
Speaking of the playoffs, Cajabi did see an uptick in ATOI. He played over a full minute more in the postseason (17:17) while posting 2-3--5 across 6 games. Always positive news for a player when their team trusts them with more ice time, especially in the playoffs. He also led the team in hits with 21, trying to inspire his teammates anyway he could.

After speaking with the player and talking to sources around the league, there seems to be a lot of interest in him as we approach the draft. I'd say there's a very high probability that Cajabi ends up as a 1st round pick. I'd even go so far as to say he ends up going in the top half of the draft to a team looking for a difference maker for years to come who can be a leader on and off the ice.

Risk: 1/5     Reward: 5/5
Final Grade: A+

[620 words]

14. R&R

It has been a whirlwind of activity for Matviy Cajabi since declaring his intention to come over from the Ukraine and play in the SMJHL. From the excitement of the draft in Vegas to his first full season with the Armada, there hasn't been much of an opportunity to slow down and appreciate it all yet. And now, even with the Armada's officially over after bowing out in the first round of the J playoffs, it doesn't look like Cajabi will be resting anytime soon.

Cajabi was named to the Team World roster for the upcoming WJC so he'll be back on the ice competing soon enough. And of course, the SHL draft is fast approaching as well. Rest and relaxation? What is that?

Cajabi has kept himself busy since the playoffs ended. While some of the other players have headed back home to spend some time with family and friends, Cajabi has opted to stay in Anchorage over the offseason. The Armada have been gracious enough to allow him to skate and train at the team's home arena, the Sullivan Center. He's hoping the experience of his first full season in North America will go a long way in improving his draft stock as well as being a valuable asset to Team World.

Of course, as well all know, "all work and no play" blah blah blah. On the rare occasions you don't find the rink-rat on the ice, he spends his time with the teammates that have stuck around in Anchorage and works on his English skills. You'll rarely ever spot him without his signature pair of over the ear Bose headphones adorned with Ukrainian flag and Armada stickers. Often times he'll be tucked away in a quiet spot, leaned against his hockey bag with a comic book in hand. At last check, he was reading the Ultimate Galactus Trilogy.

While it may come as a shock, Cajabi doesn't actually live at the Sullivan Center. He has become fascinated with disc golf and is always trying to get his teammates to join him in a round. They've also caught on to the fact that Cajabi is somewhat of a pool shark, which they might have found out after losing a few dollars from their wallets.

He'll also be thrilled to reunite with his parents who he hasn't seen since before last season began. They were unable to travel with him at the time and missed out on hearing his name called during the SMJHL draft. That won't be the case this time as they'll be in attendance this time around during the SHL iteration. Expect him to add tour guide to his vast list of skills while his parents are in town, before heading to the draft. He plans on taking them "flightseeing", and take in the beauty of picturesque Alaska.

Even the resting and relaxing for Cajabi sounds like it will be quite eventful!

2. Looking at the SMJHL draft for Kelowna, they have needs at really every position still. Between callups, some inactive players, and the expansion draft, all 3 positions will be needed. The biggest priority I’m sure will be forward, as forwards are the most vital position to success in the current league setup. Defense of course is needed as well since fewer and fewer defensive prospects are being created, and we are also in need of a goalie with Sieve nearing the end of his Kelowna run. I guess its not necessarily a bad thing to be in the position to take best player available, so it will really be a mystery as to which direction the Knights go. Personally, I think they’ll take a forward in the first round. With some good forward prospects already earning, adding another strong forward prospect could really help as the Knights push towards winning a cup. (152 words, +3)

8. In an alternate timeline, I think it would make the most sense for me to be playing for Newfoundland. Not only was my last player on Newfoundland, but I think Jennifer would fit in well with the team as an offensive focused forward. Newfoundland is a very strong team defensively and in net, so adding an additional scoring touch would benefit their roster. Newfoundland is always a cup contender, and I think there would be potential for Jennifer to take them over the top, if not this season than in a season or two when some of the top teams age out. (102 words, +2)

12.When it comes to what my player and I can add to an SHL team at the draft, Jen has already shown a bit of a scoring touch, scoring at half a point per game as a rookie on a non-playoff team. She will be a huge part of any team’s forward core and should help push for a Challenge Cup. As for me as a user, I am active on the teams I am a part of, I plan on hitting 2k, and could potentially join my new teams war room if given the opportunity. Overall I think Jen and I are a strong package and hopefully we go early in the draft. (114 words, +2 TPE)

16. My main goal for Jennifer is to win a Challenge Cup. I understand that’s everyones goal, but it was the big thing that was missing from Slavakov’s career so I would love to see Jennifer lift the cup at some point. My other big goal is to win a gold medal with Czechia. They have yet to win a gold medal in their team’s history, and being a part of bringing a gold medal to Czechia would be huge. A smaller goal that would be nice is winning a WJC gold medal. WJC isn’t one I’ve typically paid too much attention to, but with Czechia getting their own WJC team it would be great to bring that gold back to Czechia as well. I guess as a final goal, and one on the bottom, is to lead the league in goals one season. Whether that be in the SMJHL or SHL, it would be cool to be the leading goal scorer. (161 words, +3)

17. So overall I like this version of CW more than the old one in certain ways, but I think the SHL one has one big advantage in the split between all star week and CW week. Being able to do all of it over two weeks is incredibly helpful, but I do like how the J offsets that by giving all of us 2 weeks to do it. The big thing that I’m a fan of, and its possible SHL CW does this and I just missed it, is being able to write 50 words for 1 TPE. Some prompts on the main CW are hard to get 150 words out about, whereas some can easily go over 100 words but you still only get 2 TPE. It’s much better in this one since there are some topics that are easy for me to write 150 words on but others I struggle to even get to 100. I just appreciate the work the PT team has put into making CW less painful. (172 words, +3)

At the end of the day, what we all really strive for is the Four Star Cup. It takes everyone's best efforts, an unrelenting determination to win and hard work to be able to hoist the glorious trophy.
Out of the 12 teams in playoffs, who do you think will win the 4 Star Cup? Are you going for the clear favorites, or the underdogs? Give reasons to justify your prediction.

I don’t know if my team (NL) are underdogs or not but whatever they are I’m going to go with them, I think we have a good chance at winning it all or going to the finals, I think NL can win this because we have a pretty solid team our defence might be our biggest weakness or it might not I don’t really check stats that often, but either defensemen aren’t important…. Anyways yeah I think the NL are gonna win.

Oooo I’d definitely need to go with kraken…. I did go ia on them but I WANT A 2ND CHANCE. Ok anyways… I honestly think Kraken wouldn’t be out if I would be on their team my player is just too good… missed opportunity. No but seriously I would love to play for them again. I won’t go ia again (hopefully).

A player name is the first of many steps that mark the start of a new SHL career. From meme names, real life references and parodies of hockey players, there are a wonderful assortment of
names that can be found throughout the league. Which player(s) have the best name and why?

I might be biased but I honestly think my player has the best name…… Pique Boo, I like this name. It's just so silly and it fits me so well since I kept on going IA and then decided to poke my head into the SHL just like PeekaBoo. That's actually how I came up with this name….

I’d like to spend this off-season just going on vacation doing nothing. I don’t really wanna think too much about the draft until it’s close enough plus my team is still in the playoffs so I’ll focus on playoffs first then take a little break and then the draft ofc.

Although your career may still be in its early stages, it's still a great time to think about the future. What are some goals you have for your career, or some personal goals for the site?
Are you striving for a HOF induction? Getting a site job?

I do have some goals…. Staying active…. As some of you know I haven’t been active most of my time here but I wanna change that so my main goal is definitely staying active. I do have a few more goals like getting a league job is also definitely a goal I have.

As we move into the S76 season there are some things that the Nevada Battleborn need to address, but luckily for them, it isn't a youth movement. The Battleborn have one of the deepest prospect pools in the SMJHL and look to build off of last season and start becoming competitive from next season on. If you had to find ways that the Battleborn need to improve it would have to be on the backend and shot suppression. Nevada was extremely leaky and gave up a lot of shots which caused them to fall behind in games quickly and sometimes so far behind there was no chance in crawling back. With the youth movement coming through and some of the Veterans they relied on last season moving on, this young team that will be coming into this season will need to find a way to become a more complete unit next year.

3. Secret Plans
It’s never too early to start thinking about how you’re going to gain a competitive edge next season! How is your team going to go the extra mile to get wins next season? Is it a secret training regimen? Sneaky equipment modifications? Booby trapping the visiting teams’ locker room? Anything goes.

There are a lot of tricks out there to get inside of the other team's head before a big game at home, and some of them you can have some fun with but I think when it comes to rivalry night you have to bring out all the stops. I think you start simply shortening the visitor's team's bench in height. It's hard to get the blood flowing and get your legs back under you when your legs are bent up right into your chest, then add the fact you can barely see over the boards. Then you can always have some fun with warm-up music, throwing in some nursery rhymes and other fun stuff but that one just never sat right for me because it affects the home bench as well. The last one is probably one of the best and that is of course repainting the away team's locker room. Throw on a new fresh coat of paint in the room but of course, it can't just be any color, you have to go with something fun like pink or yellow, between the fumes and the confusion you will be sure to push the visiting team into a mental pretzel.

12. On the Radar
Write a pre-draft scout report on your player from the perspective of a journalist covering the prospects of the S75 SHL draft class. What do possible SHL suitors have to be excited (or perhaps wary?) about when it comes to potentially drafting your player?

As we enter the S76 SHL draft one of the players that is an enigma is Lucas Raymond. Lucas had shown a lot of promise before joining the SMJHL but ran into some injury issues before his draft season. Overall most would say his S75 junior season wasn't his best throughout his young career but there are a lot of things that factored into that. Due to injuries and missing a year's worth of hockey just getting back up to speed was a task in itself, but this season Raymond was coming in as a waiver pick-up as he was not ready in time for the SMJHL draft. This put him in a very new situation as his only chance to sign a junior contract in the s75 season was to move position. Lucas decided it was better to move back onto defense instead of missing another year of development. Luckily for Raymond, a team like the Nevada Battleborn saw what he was capable of with his 200-foot game and his ability to adapt to any situation. It wasn't the easiest transition and looking at his stats a lot of scouts would lose the fact that before injury and before this season Raymond was prolific in his offensive game to go with his pride on the defensive side of the puck.

Going into the draft and next season Raymond is looking to surprise a lot of the SHL hockey world, spending the entire season on the second or third pair on defense it looks like he will find himself as the 2nd line center going into next season. With another year of recovery under his belt, he looks to become a main contributor with the Battleborn next season. It should be easy for him to topple season highs after such a low-scoring affair.

As far as where he might go this upcoming draft, most are expecting somewhere in the middle of the second round. Though things can change teams are afraid of his time off due to his injuries but also with the lack of luster offensive output in the S75 season. Raymond is looking to turn the hockey world upside down and trying to make an impact big enough by the end of the S76 season that he becomes one of the biggest steals come draft time. Either way, no one truly knows where Raymond ends up, but keep an eye out for where his future takes him next.

1. Fan Appreciation Day

The Vancouver Whalers appreciation day is coming up next Friday and if you attend the game, you will receive a special commemorative item! We have a variety of items that will be handed out at the game! You may receive a beach towel that has each of the whalers players faces superimposed on which whale they would be if they could pick a whale to turn into- spoiler alert lots of the younger guys on the team chose “sperm whale”. You might also receive a magic 8 ball, with all the answers being GO WHALERS! So when you ask it- “who should I root for?” you will always get the right answer. Also an awesome item- trading cards! You can get a 3 pack of cards and see which players you got! One of these packs is extra special and comes with cards that don’t have players on them- but have instructions that can be turned in at customer service to receive a set of trading cards for the whole team! And last but not least- you may receive a set of brand new- made from 100% organic fair trade and using naturally occurring pesticide free dye- KING sized sheets. Do you have a king sized bed and your spouse won’t mind sleeping on your favorite team's logo? These sheets are for you then! Make sure you get here early for our game this Friday to be first in line so you can choose your commemorative item! Game starts at 7- get here early!

3. Secret Plans

The Whalers have all pitched in and hired a super secret top-notch award winning scientist who is going to work on cloning the Whalers! Each Whaler will receive 5 clones and a high tech machine that can meld together them and 1 clone at a time. The clones will come in individual self sustaining freezers, so when the player is ready to use their clone they just have to press a button and recite their super secret code (supplied by the scientist) in their own voice and the clone will quickly defrost in a matter of seconds and will be ready to be used! They can send the clone to practice if they are feeling sick or have another obligation- then just meld them together in the clone melding machine and they will receive all the new skills and practice that the clone did while they were busy slacking off! This way our players can have more of a life without missing out on any training. Some of our more dedicated players might even bring their clone with them to practice and then meld so that they can get double the payout of that practice! Talk about dedication to their team. But don’t tell anyone okay? It’s a secret plan.

4. Funtimes

As the official Fun Director of the Whalers I officially invite all the players and their families to a cookout on the ice. There will be a grill manned by Gordan Ramsy in a Whale mascot costume. He will be making burgers, hot dogs and kabobs to order and will have mac and cheese (dairy free of course to avoid potential accidental toots at the next Whalers game), cole slaw, and pasta salad. For dessert there will be cookies, walnut brownies and a giant 5 foot tall cake in the shape of an ice skate. There will be many lawn games such as Kuub, Kan Jam, and Giant Jenga just to name a few. We will also have some more advanced carnival activities such as Bungee Jumping, Bumper cars and Go Karts.
To end the night- a concert by Oliva Rodrigo in which any of the players and their families are invited to join her up on stage to dance the “Love is Embarrassing” and other choreography from her GUTS tour.
I hope all the players come (well, it’s mandatory so I’m sure I’ll see them all there Wink ) and bring their families and have a great time bonding with their team. See you this Saturday at noon!

5. Superlatives

Roman Jalopski wins the S75 superlative for best smelling hair. Even after a long game, when he takes his helmet off and slow-mo flips his hair his team gets heart eyes as they get a whiff of passion-fruit lavender peppermint rose. Roman has been known to max out his credit cards spending about $200 on each 6 ounce bottle of shampoo and conditioner which has a single drop from the tree of everlasting life which is harvested by monks who have spent over 50 years in absolute silence. It’s worth it though. Congrats to Roman and if you ever spend the night at his house, definitely use his toiletries.

Robo Sven wins the S75 superlative for the sexiest mustache. When he skates onto the ice from the locker room, ladies have been known to faint. The Whalers arena has actually employed two additional staffed ambulances just to care for the syncopized ladies who fall victim to Sven’s mustache and general charisma at every game. It’s thick, it’s well maintained, there are never crumbs (he leaves no crumbs if you know what I mean). The way that it twists up at the end and glints against the metallic background that is robocops skin, it’s a wonder that Robo Sven has not been featured on Mustache Magazine. I gotta learn what beard oil he uses so I can also impress the ladies.

1. Fan Appreciation Day
Your team is giving back to their supporters by holding a fan appreciation day for one of their games, where the team will hand out a special commemorative item to show thanks for their continued support of the franchise. You have been tasked to design the product to be given out to the attendees (can be a rally towel, foam finger, bobble head, etc.) Write a blurb about the item, including details on during which game was / will be given out.

For the fan appreciation day, it will be on the home opener of the next season. This will be a hugh game since we will have to raise commemorative banner and celebrate winning the cup. As a token of appreciation, the colorado raptors will hand out to every fan attending a special larry the raptor mascot holding up a 4 star cup, bobble head format everyone loves bubble head. It will be blue and gold, and the cup will have a shiny cheap silver finish. It will also come with a small blue and gold towel replicating the cup banner that will be hoisted up in the arena.

6. Team History
I know history isn't everyone's favorite thing to discuss, but a team's past can really define its identity, what its known for and who they are in the present. Tell us about your team's past! Have there been any franchise defining moments that are integral to your team or even SHL history? Conversely, is there some interesting tidbit that not many around the league know?

The Colorado Raptors team history is a long one. The franchise was first known as the Colorado Mammoths  and was offering a different color theme, the brown orangeish and no dinosaurs. They won a cup 42 seasons ago and then a dry spell hit the franchise, the longest drought in league's history. The colorado Raptors history is one of tradition. For the last 5 IRL years, the team has always been managed by a GM and CO-GM that were part of the team. Hiring from within has it's benefits, it provides a stable locker room with a clear direction on the talent or users that are being added to it. Theres some standards to follow as far as being respectful goes, and there's also a great supporting cast making sure the rookies are well introduced to the customs of the league. While some may say that not winning the cup means you failed, the Raptors have one of the winningest record over the last 20 seasons or so. Only once have they really reseted and went for a rebuild, that led to a cup, but otherwise the team has always maintained a spectacular regular season, notably under @jumbo tenure. The team also has an history of having very good defensive forwards, who also usually happened to be late draft picks. Jurt and Max Manning have been palyers that stood out as draft steals, among many other. With a first cup in 42 seasons, the team will be looking to add another one or two with the present core, and to keep adding talent to hopefully build a dynasty bringing glorious banners to the team's arena.

7. Winner Winner Chicken

I think the favorite team to win the cup is the Colorado Raptors for the following reasons. The Raptors have been finalist last season and their core only added better player and more experience. They added Brooklyn Physt, Charlie Slurpe and Stahl in goals who shall all help push the team to win. They also have one of the deadliest first line in the SHL comprised of Beausoleil, Mutou and Shadow Fenix. The oldest two have established franchise best numbers and also league best numbers in terms of goals and assists. That line alone can shift a game into a win. Then you have even more depth after them , the D core is minded towards winning with many good shot blockers and hitters that will stop at nothing to clear the crease. And finally the goalie tandem is one of the best, Stahl and Tanner Pitts have incredible season and its a shame only one of them will start during the playoffs, but shall one falter, the other one will be ready to jump into the action. Finally, they have one guy always saying Im gonna win the cup. My prediction is that raptors will win it all, in 5 games against the Newfoundland Berzerkers.

17. Feedback
For recreates, how was doing this new version of CW compared to the old one? Was the experience better, or worse? How were the PT changes? For first gens, you can also talk about your experiences with PTs in general too this season!

I think it's great, some subjects definitly inspired me more than an usual 150 word promt or 100 word prompt and that helps me reach the mark easier. While also some might be less inspiring to me, I could have written a quick 50 word about it and move on to another subject. Overall, my first tought was that it was going to be a puzzle to figure out when I have reached a treshold and how many points is my task worth but now that i'm at the end of it, it is much more easier than expected. I just add up every little prompt and if i'm close to 800 or 650 words with the milestones then I am done. In classic CW, writing 250 words isn't rewarded as they usually cap the reawrd at 150 words, so I liked that a lot. I think the subjects are often hit or miss, and come down to individual preferences, and there being a lot of them helps picking up those we like. We don't have to like them all or force ourselves to write about something, we can pick a few that are cool and cash in on them.

1. Fan Appreciation Day [206 words/ 4TPE]

Here ye, Here ye! Attention all Raptors fans, its time we give back and award your dedication to the dino gang. At this seasons home opener, the first 500 guests will revieve a DinoKey ™. Whats a DinoKey you ask? Well we have collaborated with world famous geo tracker Figgs D'Stout and Colorado RocKey Co., to create the ultimate fan experience. Hidden somewhere within the state is a treasure chest holding one of a kind Raptors memorabilia. How will you find this treasure chest? Hints will be hidden within game programs throughout the season. If your the first to find the chest, these once in a lifetime collectors items will be yours. But wait, theres one more twist, some of the DinoKeys ™ are fakes. Thats right, you must also possess the proper key to unlock the chest. We dont care how you aquire the key and how you get your hands on the chest. We only care that you have fun and someone comes out crowed the Colorado Raptors Superfan. Is it worth murdering a family memeber over? Probably not, but thats not our call! Do whatever you want, as long as someone gets the treasure by the end on the season. Have fun!

4. Funtimes [321 words/ 6TPE]

Time has come for the annual drawing to see who will be this years "Fun Director". Each players name will be placed into a hat and drawn at random. We caught up with Raptors D-Man Chuff D'Lee to see what his idea of fun would be if he won the drawing:

"So heres how my funday would go if I was chosen to be Fun Director. Beforehand, I would hire a group on muscle. This is for the morning of, when they kidnap each player out of their home, blind fold them and hog tie them. Then we will all be transported to an undisclosed location in the San Juan National Forest. Once there, we are untied and abandoned. We will be left with survival packs for each member as well as a map and compass. The map will have a specific destination marked on it and we must find our way there before sundown. The path to the destination will be riddled with puzzles and obstacles that require feats of strength. As a team we must overcome it all to reach the destination.
...
Upon arrival, the destination will be revieled to be a camp site! At this site will be world renown BBQ pit master Aaron Franklin ready to serve us some of his world famous brisket. The whole event will include a diesel tanker full of beer that we can drink late into the night around a roaring bonfire. Music will be provided buy the world famous Right On Band playing covers of all our favorite 70s and motown hits. Of course, no night is complete without a drone lazer light show set to the Tarzan soundtrack.
...
The next morning we will be greeted to a five star breakfast  and grandpappys secret hangover cure. We will then take helicopters back home while a crew cleans up the forest to leave no trace of us ever being there."

14. R&R [319 words/ 6TPE]

What should one do during the offseason? This seems to be the question every player askes themselves after the final horn is blown. Well, up and coming junior defenseman, Chuff D'Lee is here to share what he thinks is the best approach to the break:

"The most important thing to remember about the offseason is its not only a great time to train, but also a great time to heal. If you push yourself too hard, as soon as the next season begins you will suffer.
...
I always begin the break by flying back home to see my family, they miss me during the season and always want to have dinners and get togethers with old friends. When this happens, I must exercise discipline. A week of food and wine can cause a major setback in training.
...
At the end of the season I'm always playing my hardest. I like to spend the first week doing activities that keep me in shape but allow my body to heal. This includes morning skates at the local rink, hikes around the lake, yoga followed my meditation, and practicing slapshots.
...
After a week, when I feel my body is ready, I begin strength training. Morning skates become tests of speed, and hikes become runs. Obviously I never push myself too hard, and one should never fear an eaiser day every here and there.
...
Some players think the only way to get good at hockey is to only practice hockey. I dont think this is true. I find it important to expose yourself to other sports as well. Swimming is one of my favorites, it works out most muscles and builds stamina. On top of that it allows you to learn to control your breathing.
...
The final thing I'd like to add is, keep your year round diet and stay hydrated. Your body will thank you when training camp begins."

1. Our item was given out at game 7 of the semifinals versus the Maine Timber. We gave out noisemakers colored black and red. If you have seen the Lightning noisemakers that people despise, it would be exactly like that. They would be used to make an ignorant amount of crowd noise for game 7. It clearly worked as we took down the Timber in game 7 overtime. The fans will be allowed to bring back these noisemakers for every game next season. Expect our barn to be annoying as ever. For next year’s playoffs, we will give out bigger and better noisemakers. 103 words.

2. Looking towards the future, the Berserkers still have an overall solid team. The expansion draft will hit a lot of our scoring, but we plan to have the young guns step in to fill in the holes. I previously would have said that defense was a huge need, but Joe Degen stepped up last season. We could use depth at every position on the ice. Goalie seems to be set, but you never know what happens. Newfoundland will be a wild card in the upcoming draft. If I had to guess, our GMs will likely go defense in round one. After missing out on the cup by losing in the finals, our team will certainly have a chip on their shoulder. Through a good draft and current players earning, we hopefully will see ourselves in the finals again. This time we will take home the cup. Look out SMJHL. 150 words.

3. We do not like to disclose this information to the public. However, I will address some rumblings. There has been talk around our locker room that we will be forcing our rookies to take horse tranquilizers. This will improve their stamina in strength to strive next season. Other players will have the option, but not required. This will be a massive competitive edge. Who needs tpe when you have horse tranquilizers running through your blood. In Newfoundland, we have morals, so we will not tamper with any other team’s locker room. Howeverrrrr, we will be replacing all of St. Louis’ performance enhancing drugs with melatonin. I have no further comments at this time. We have also set up defense for our locker room. Everyone will want to mess with us because we are so good. We have hired a 10 man former military defense crew to protect the locker room. 151 words.

8. If I was to choose any team to play for in the playoffs besides NL I would have chosen QCC. They were the clear favorite and my pick for the cup. I would have slotted in their bottom line and been able to help them win. I would also have gotten to play with some really big stars in the J. I mean if it was necessary, I could have sat the bench and cheered my little heart out. I would never turn my back on NL, but QCC would have been my other choice just for the sole fact of winning a cup. 100 words.

12. Well, the draft is over, but I will talk about my pre-draft thoughts. I had made it clear that I would not be playing for New Orleans or Toronto. They did not even scout me, and I am sure that might have been part of it. My player is going to be a stud. A true all-around two-way player. An active player that will likely slot into a top line left wing role down the line. He plans to play in the J until his time is up, but a team is going to get a good one. I had a good feeling I was either going to EDM or Tampa. Living in Tampa, that was the obvious spot I wanted to go. However, I got drafted to EDM and I absolutely love it. They now have a great prospect pool and we will be competitive in no time. They also have my favorite logo and colors in the league. I am pumped. 164 words.
