S79 SMJHL PT #2 - Rivalry Week Due: Sunday, October 27th @ 11:59 PM PST
#16

When walking into the locker room one day, I had to ask, "Which team do we hate the most?" My teammates were quick to point to a poster on the wall of a strange looking scarecrow head thing being crossed out. I hadn't realized it was there before. Just then, the GMs walked in and let me know Halloween is stupid and so are creepy scarecrows.

And so was my introduction to the Detroit Falcons vs. St. Louis Scarecrows rivalry. I must say, I didn't immediately feel good about this since we got shutout by them 0-3 earlier this season. At least I have the future matchups to look forward to. For Quazon Brosonchi, he will take any reason to increase his motivation to dominate the opposition. Rest be assured that the St. Louis Scarecrows upcoming games are circled on his calendar. They will not taste victory at the hands of the Detroit Falcons again.

In this rugged league, it's hard to find a team that isn't our rival. Vancouver has had such a dominant past that I believe all the teams are colluding together to prevent us from winning more games... If I had to choose our biggest rival, it would be Quebec for no reason other than they are French. Vancouver is also doing extremely well in the league right now, so it's only natural they are our rival.

Now, it's not like I have it out for people from Quebec. It's just that every time we've met Quebec on the ice, it's been a hard fought battle where they have just barely managed to edge us out and secure victory. It's gotten to a point where all of Vancouver is ready to give up their heart and charge into battle. Like true heroes, we will sacrifice ourselves to beat Quebec. Will anything come from our efforts? Only time will tell.

If nothing else Vancouver has the best vibes in the league and all other teams should be envious.

For the first time since I joined this site a couple years ago, I find myself on a J team other than Maine.  I miss them so much, SouthPaw and MikeLiut are two of the best people I've met since joining this community and they have managed to keep the train rolling in Maine for longer than should be possible.

At this point it doesn't even really matter which team you're on. When you ask anyone who their rival is, MET is probably close to, if not at the top of their list. They've made it to the conference finals something stupid like ten times in twelve seasons. The finals almost as much as that. And they've taken home the cup three times in that span.

So who is my rival? Maine. I want them win but I also want to beat them.

I miss you guys so much. But it's time for Chungledown to bring you down.

I don't know any historic rivalries since I am new so if I were to pick a team it has to be the Colorado Raptors hands down one of the worst logos in the league it looks like something I would draw back in the middle school trying to just get pass in art class. Since they are doing well at the moment its one of the first logos I have to see when scrolling down to find the Battleborn its just annoys me seeing it also why is the outline yellow its trying to scary looking with a yellow outline? who's idea was that. Is It suppose to be a Velociraptor? because that looks nothing like one. Hopefully they figure it over there, its great that their team is doing well but the logo needs a overhaul hopefully someone in the future can change the logo or at least the outline to a better colour

I don’t yet have a rival player or team right now since I am new and still putting my foot in the water but my guess would be right now the Knights rivals would be Maine Timber. Not for current season purposes but from last seasons playoff experience. To make it all the way to the cup and lose is heartbreaking. Maine’s victory stung hardcore I am sure because the Knights came so close to winning it all. Although I was not on the team back then or even in the league for that matter, I could see some players and staff that were in Kelowna last season and this season would probably feel bitter towards Maine. I would. And although a rebuilding season this season, I am sure there is some vengeance in the hearts of the Knights. I am sure this event has most likely motivated the Knights management to succeed on their rebuild and more.

I'm new to the Walleye but looking at the standings and listening to the old heads gave me a clear answer as to who are main rivals are, And they are the Anchorage Armada. Now I've got some personal beef with the Armada but that's not what we're here for. What we're here for is to discuss the livid hatred, disgust and revilement the Walleye get from the boats. And who can blame them? The Armada have always had a certain level of excellence to them but an excellence that was mixed with conceited arrogance. See this rivalry is one of respect yet bitter bitter hatred. The fact that they’ve met in the playoffs many times always adds to the concoction of anger that builds in both sides before every game against one another. No wonder these games are some of the most physical and demanding games in the entire SMJHL. Benjamin Theodore is proud to have played and bled in these games. No matter how successful he becomes in the future he will always remember the games against The Armada.

Hard to have any real beef with anyone at the moment. Still new, still figuring things out. But all that aside I can absolutely throw some darts at a board and decide who's my least favorite. I'm gonna go with a conference opponent who is just a little too close in the standings but also physically on a map. Today the beef begins with Newfoundland. First they are Newfoundland. Second I don't really like their logo. Finally, I simply feel like I would have a rivalry with the team. Especially them being so close in proximity. Although we've beat them in this season so far I just don't like them passing us up on the standings. That is our spot and we deserve it thank you very much.

The Mutes biggest rival this year may very well be Vancouver. Perhaps I’m biased, but I definitely play my best hockey vs Vancouver for one simple reason. Passing on me in the draft. Coming in I was heavily scouted by Vancouver and was fairly certain I would be drafted by them, especially after they traded down a few spots in the draft. Vancouver is my home town, I have been a fan for many years and always pictured myself wearing their jersey. However, like doesn’t always go the way you expect it to. As such, I have devoted my SMJHL career to causing pain to Vancouver and their fans. Passing on Geno Vajihollahi, the man who could’ve dragged this team out of the basement to being a perennial contender.

I hope that every time I lace them up against Vancouver, I’ll play my best hockey. I know that my effort will be seen and I plan on making their lives miserable when I’m on the ice.

One team I can't stand is those damn Maine Timbers. They are nothing but a headache and a nuisance in general. I may just be holding a grudge as they beat out my team four times in a row in the playoffs before my time.I am yet to have a rival player but I consider the entirety of the Maine timber my rival and will do anything to beat them. I am new and allowing my team's history to pick my rival but it is valid. I aim to make my goal for my time on the malamutes to go against the Maine Timber and eliminate them or show them up in the playoffs. I will attempt to make sure they never score another goal on the Yukon ever again and I will help ridicule the goalie. Their team name is also so uncreative and just so lame with their colours being so plain. It makes sense though as the Maine Timber are so boring.

The biggest rival for me personally would have to be the Colorado Raptors, I just simply hate that team and I cant wait to play them and score a bunch of goals and fuck up one of their players, not going to name anyone specific but it could be a player that plays on the 3rd line especially the rw spot on that team and he's kinda in the middle of things sometimes. I dotn know why but heis mmy least favourite opponent and I hope I will get my chance to lay him the fuck out one of these days. Unsure, on why I hate him so much but I will show that on the ice. ( I'm just kidding) just doing this as a meme to write this pt so I could get my tpe. But ya the colorado raptors are my biggest rival for this very reason.

There are likely more obvious rivals, just based on league (and more specifically playoff series) history or geographical proximity, like the Maine Timber or the Ottawa Highlanders. And I'm sure team historians and veterans of our organization will have different ideas. But what stung most for me early on in my young career was getting beaten 7-4 and 8-5 the first two times we faced the San Diego Tidal. Especially the trio of Skyler Stevens, Felix Carlsson and Brodir Aleifrsson taught us a lesson or two on those two occasions. They are coming off a couple of pretty rough seasons and are looking to finally rebound, but we were not expecting to help with that.
It's gonna be a few weeks until we see them again, but next time it's personal. By that time our recent downturn should be a thing of the past and we'll break that tidal force.

I would say that the Colorado Raptors biggest rivalry would be the Carolina Kraken. Not only are they in the same conference, but they also have a few rookie matchups with the 1st 2 picks, Kim Chaewon and Rocky Gislason, and later new gens in Greyson Willis and Tiny Princess. This is looking to be a good rivalry as most of the games have been close between the two. The last playoff matchup was actually S78, when the Colorado Raptors ended up beating the Carolina Kraken 4 - 3 in the first round of playoffs. These two teams sure do look like they will be top contenders among both the south conference and whole league each with some great scorers. Every time they meet on the ice it is sure to be a good game on both sides, weather its the scoring of Kim Chaewon, or the Incredible defensive efforts of Tiny Princess.

i hate the st louis scarecrows. this is for no other reason than @Jimbo1990 saying that the scarecrows were better than the colorado raptors. I believe the real reason that st louis thinks there is a rivalry with colorado, is that st louis is a terrible city to live in in comparison to colorado. the fact that colorado is just a short plane ride away annoys st louis players and fans, is that if they spent the time and money on a short plane ride to denver, their happiness would improve ten fold and most definitely so would the interest in the team and the quality of hockey to watch. the whole reason st louis players get chippy when playing against the colorado raptors is that they JEALOUS of what the RAPTORS have to offer. and i cant blame them. its not their fault they play for a team called the SCARECROWS. because thats what they play like. a stationary object, otherwise known as a PYLON.

i HATE the scarecrows
